Depends on what you want them for. I got these ones from Amazon for under $10 and I've been totally happy with them! I use them for deadlifts mainly, and also front squats for extra mobility.

However, I also have Versa Grips which were $56 at the time, and I love them as well! I use them for more general pulling movements, like lat pull downs, pull ups, rows, etc.

So if you want straps specifically for deadlifts, go with simple ones. If you want to do a lot of things with them, you might want ones that are more of the Versa Grip style (because you can use the grips with one hand and don't have to wrap)

My wrist supports aren't great, a bit short in all honesty. I just bought this bundle a while back ago, http://www.amazon.com/Lifting-Weightlifting-Crossfit-Powerlifting-Bodybuilding/dp/B00MZN3AHA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418403495&sr=8-1&keywords=nordic+lifting+wrist

They both are fine for my needs right now, but there are definitely better ones out there. elitefts running some sales atm I would look at, and also heard people like mark bell's multipurpose wraps.

u/nitarrific · 2 pointsr/xxfitness

I got to that point around 180lbs. It kept feeling like it was going to slip out of my hands. So I started using a mixed grip when I got to that point. One overhand, one underhand. It takes some getting used to because it feels kind of awkward, but it helped a lot. As I progress, should my grip fail me again, I will start using some straps, similar to this. Those are actually the ones my boyfriend uses when he pulls his heavier deadlifts, so I'll have a chance to try them before I commit to buying a pair.

Other helpful things: My wrists began to feel sore after doing bench and OHP. I have very petite wrists (especially for my size... I'm 5'9" and 160lbs but my wrists are just itty bitty) and they have trouble supporting the weight I'm pressing. So I found a DIY Wrist Wrap pattern and tutorial (which I've posted in this sub recently) and made myself a couple wraps. Tried them out on Monday for bench, they were great, helped my stability a lot. Trying them out today with OHP.

Also have tried using a belt when pulling my heavier deadlifts and doing heavier squats. I use it less as a cheat and more as a cue to remind me to breathe into my stomach, as I tend to breathe more into my shoulders. It helps more than I thought it would.

For the long hair you could just use clip-on hair extensions to the hair on the back of your head. Something like this is pretty cheap though not very long.

I dunno about the pants and big ol' belt. Maybe a weight belt like this one on backwards and above some harem pants.

You might also reference these pictures 1 & 2 to do the blue warpaint and for a good visual on the wedding belt.

There is 2 types that are easy to put around the bar, one is the figure 8 straps (Eddie hall used these for his 500 pull). The other type is kinda hard to describe, the strap is shorter than usual and have a stiff element on the end which acts as a natural resistance. Shiek sells those on amazon, they are great.

Edit: I mean these

u/Tiny311 · 3 pointsr/bodybuilding

I've had these for a while and love em. Looks like u/pat0488 recommended them as well

u/Jason_DeHoulo · 1 pointr/powerlifting

I had the same thing until I switched from regular straps to a padded (rubberized) strap. I think the rubber compresses a bit which takes some of the weight off of my wrists. I actually have an easier time holding on to heavier weights with these as well compared to regular straps.

405lbs 5x15 shrugs and my wrists are feeling great with these guys.

Link to what I'm talking about (these are the exact straps I use) https://www.amazon.ca/WSF-Griptech-Rubberized-Lifting-Straps/dp/B00U632216

I use Dark Iron Fitness straps and love them--comfortable, leather, price is right, and they have a sweet warranty https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Iron-Fitness-Weightlifting-Powerlifting/dp/B07C88VXQW

u/FuckESPN · 6 pointsr/Fitness

I literally just today got got some straps in from Amazon. Not sure I've ever heard of hooks, are straps comparable?

I couldn't give two shits less how many people on reddit shout "grip strength" - I'm basically working with 3 fingers on my left hand lol. People who are so fanatical about the small details miss the big picture, and I think this sub suffers greatly from that condition.

Edit: Went all dyslexic on the link formatting.

u/OldGuyEd · 2 pointsr/Fitness

Same here with grip, can't hold on for more than 6 reps with 225 but I can go much higher with these hooks:
http://www.amazon.com/Altus-Athletic-Standard-Lifting-Hooks/dp/B001FB5UKI
Best $12 I ever spent on fitness stuff. I continue to work on grip, but it makes no sense to have that holding back heavier deads.

u/Sharinflan · 1 pointr/Fitness

Looking for a cheap but good pair of straps. I don't know what type to get, as it is mainly for dumbbell rows, machine rows and lat pulldowns, since grip isn't a problem on deadlifts.
Would something like this be enough?

u/fernandizzel · 2 pointsr/leangains

Bought my wife these liffting straps instead of gloves and she loves them: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HUFXZG4/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_awdm_l2p4wbG0WGJXW

Hands slid around in gloves and the padding was either too thick or thin in other gloves. Straps provide a nice consistent and durable grip.

I personally acquired my own implements from Brodin's Building (Bodybuilding.com) however I note that the Amazonians offer similar implements to my own for only $10 (Amazon) with free shipping if a Prime friend of their tribe. Other than being a Captain of Crush, any recommendations for grip training for endurance?

u/Nutrilait · 3 pointsr/bodybuilding

I couldn't find the exact model he's using, but I found these on amazon. HERE

Personally I use these but I only use straps on high reps deadlifts. Hope this helped.

u/tgaines19 · 2 pointsr/spinalcordinjuries

I am a c5 complete.

You can use a pair of light ankle weights on the wrists for many different types of shoulder exercises. I do that, and I also have a set of resistance bands that I have mounted to my wall (https://www.amazon.com/CoreMount-Resistance-Training-Storage-Vertical/dp/B06WP6JX2V/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=Resistance+bands+wall+mount&qid=1562955373&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-6). You can use padded ankle cuffs (like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018Y6OQ56/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to attach the resistance bands to his wrists so that it doesn’t hurt your wrist as much when pulling on the bands. The key is to mount the resistance bands at the right height and get the right resistance set up. For me, once that was taken care of, I can now work out at any time by myself and do bicep curls, internal/external shoulder rotation, rows, stretch my shoulders, etc. I can roll up to my bands and get the wrist cuff over my hand and then use my mouth to tighten the wrist cuff above or below the big wrist bone depending on what exercise I am doing (closer to the hand for bicep curls, internal/external rotation, stretching & further up the arm above the wrist bone for most all other workouts so it doesn’t feel like my hands are going to pop off.

I don’t know if this is the information that you are looking for, but maybe it may give you some ideas to try for his case. Let me know if you have any other questions!

u/iatnehsupr · 1 pointr/Greekgodx

get wrist wraps my man :D they help on those heavy sets of 5 i really recommend them and for that forearm cramp just focus on forearms more on arm days :\ and ahh okay i was only asking your age because im 17 right now. And also for wrist wraps i REALLLY recommend these - https://www.amazon.com/Weight-Lifting-Crossfit-Wrist-Equipment/dp/B01HEVPNJU/ref=pd_bxgy_200_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01HEVPNJU&pd_rd_r=5329Q6F0J5CJZ2J3J5KV&pd_rd_w=I94aY&pd_rd_wg=hYkS4&psc=1&refRID=5329Q6F0J5CJZ2J3J5KV

u/Fettinem · 1 pointr/Fitness

These dark iron fitness straps are really solid, I've seen other people at the gym with them too. Nice and thick with padding. I'd say the suede would be more durable.

> Straps

Something Like this from amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Lifting-Wrist-Straps-Rip-Toned/dp/B00COY99U2/ref=zg_bs_13106341_1

Or:
http://www.amazon.com/Lifting-Neoprene-Rubbery-Grip-Support/dp/B00L1H2C20/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1458830878&sr=8-12&keywords=Straps+lifting

Or something else?

Thanks for the suggestion. This could possibly provide the captain hook method to do pulling exercises.

u/-OMGZOMBIES- · 2 pointsr/ChapoTrapHouse

Yeah, you know, straps. I thought it was clear in context of hitting the gym.

u/earlypooch · 1 pointr/Fitness

Get some lifting straps to help with the later reps/sets when your grip starts failing. They work great. But don't rely on them too much.

u/RCDrift · 1 pointr/Fitness

Get some lifting straps like these . You deadlift not to improve your grip, but to work out your whole body. I've heard all sorts of arguements about using straps to lift. To me their a moot point because I was born with middle arthritis in my hands.

u/Frank_Caswole · 1 pointr/bodybuilding

Fyi These are the ones I picked up

If your wrists are smaller than 7", I would go with something else. The pad hits itself wrapping around my wrist when I use them. You have to use them to understand. Ones without pads should fit anyone.

u/Ukhai · 2 pointsr/Fitness

lifting straps. like these

u/futuremo · 2 pointsr/bodybuilding

These are really good, been using them over a year

u/poopmailman · 2 pointsr/bodybuilding

These are the ones I bought. Got em at the beginning of the summer and they've broken in really well. 10/10

u/justmckeevs · 1 pointr/strength_training

Have you tried straps? I'm talking about these. They really do make a difference, despite upper body strength!

Eco Ball Chalk is the tits: http://amzn.com/B000212TGA

Or Harbinger straps: http://amzn.com/B001SG5LNG

90% of the people at my gym use those straps. Then again, they won't necessarily help strengthen the grip.
