My epic fantasy novel The King's Sword is on sale this week! It's normally $4.99 but is on sale for $2.99. Rated 4.3/5 on Amazon.

A disillusioned soldier. A spoiled, untried prince. A coup that threatens the country they love. When retired soldier Kemen finds the young prince Hakan fleeing an attempted assassination, he reluctantly takes the role of mentor and guardian. Keeping the prince alive is challenging enough. Making him a man is harder. As usurper Vidar tightens his grip on power, Kemen wrestles with questions of duty and honor. What if the prince isn’t the best ruler after all? Invasion looms, and Kemen’s decisions will shape the fate of a nation. What will he sacrifice for friendship and honor?

I'm also working on a new dark, urban, Christian fantasy series. I say dark because it is dark in comparison to other Christian fiction, but it's not grimdark or horror. The series is A Long-Forgotten Song and it starts with Things Unseen. It's currently rated a 5/5 on Amazon, but I only have one review so far. That review, however, was written by a real, actual buyer (not a friend).

History student Aria Forsyth's studies lead her to dangerous questions about the Empire's origins. A mysterious man named Owen, impervious to the winter cold, further unravels the safety of the world she thought she knew. At first, Aria believes Owen is human. He says he's not. What if they're both wrong? A moment's compassion draws her into a conflict between human and inhuman, natural and supernatural, and she begins to discover the secrets of the Empire, the Fae, and what it means to be human.

DRM is enabled, and I wish it wasn't. If you hate DRM, please contact me directly and I'll be happy to send you a DRM-free version in whatever format you need.

The King's Sword is on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords.

My question is how does an author like myself -- not represented by an agent -- get material to writers who spec for TV? I'm willing to give my story to someone in the industry to write a pilot, but I have no contacts and would want to partner with a writer who is ethical. The odds against getting produced are long, I realize, but I'm willing to take the chance and share my material because otherwise the odds are zero.

Many readers have finished the novel and told me the story would make a terrific movie. Even better, it could be turned into a TV series for Syfy, HBO or USA Network. The premise: An ancient king returns to life in modern day fulfilling worldwide prophecies of the Second Coming ... and the Antichrist. "Left Behind meets Stephen King" is another way to describe it. With 2012 fast approaching, the general public will be itching for a story like this, with intrigue, prophecy, religious strife, ancient mysteries.... Know anyone with industry contacts who might be interested in rolling the dice?

Thanks!

Wow thanks for the advice - awesome about the book cover! I'm leaning towards using a book cover like this for now:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Phantastes-Xist-Classics-George-MacDonald-ebook/dp/B01348VHII/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1496069928&sr=1-2&keywords=phantastes+ebook

It's rather dreamy/wonderous/inspiring type. It's to bring out a key element in the book and Christian faith- hope.

Appreciate the input very much tho! :)

Last thing I read through was Pact by Wildbow. So far I'm enjoying it, but not as much as I liked Worm. The magic system is pretty cool; it has rules but almost everything is subjective.

Next up looks like it's going to be The King Raven Trilogy by Stephen Lawhead.

u/beladan · 5 pointsr/Reformed

I'm a sucker for a good fantasy type tale ever since I read Tolkien as a lad. I enjoyed most of Stephen R Lawhead's celtic/Arthur stuff. I've read Brian Litfin's Chiveis Trilogy as well, which was a touch more heavy handed but still enjoyable. I'll be interested to see other replies. I'm always on the lookout for an enjoyable read.

  • Christopher Rowley's Bazil Broketail series

  • David Gemmell's Drenai series

  • Katherine Kerr's Deverry series

  • Christopher Stasheff's Wizard in Rhyme and Warlock of Gramarye series

  • Joel Shephard's Trial of Blood and Steel series

  • Anthony Ryan's Raven's Shadow series

  • Michael A. Stackpole's DragonCrown series

  • Glen Cook's Garrett P.I. series

  • Tim Akers' Horns of Ruin book but hopefully a series

Just trying to get some of the lesser known series in there.

EDIT: woops some of these may not be Epic...hmm...I honestly don't know how to distinguish...I think Most of them are Epic, and the only really out of place one in Cook's Garrett series, but to be honest it does get pretty epic, I mean...it builds slowly but...ok, make of the list as you will.

If you like this prompt, you should check out the "Heaven" series of books by Mur Lafferty. Very similar idea and a great story. Five seasons/books in all and every one of them is worth it.

Free audiobooks of the series at podiobooks.com

and Kindle versions for $0.99 each. Heaven (The Afterlife Series book 1)

I've never heard of any of these nor their authors. Of the ones that I surveyed at random, it looks like the best bets with high page counts + good reviews are:

I loved [Redwall] (http://amzn.to/2EL9BYT) , Brian Jacques was my jam growing up! I think you would really love the [Paradise War Trilogy by Stephen Lawhead] (http://amzn.to/2GxG9C8) .

u/feeble_stirrings · 1 pointr/TrueChristian

For Christian fiction, I've enjoyed a lot of Stephen Lawhead's stuff - Byzantium is probably my favorite of his, but it's more historical fiction. On the fantasy side there's The Song of Albion series and for Sci-Fi Empyrion (2 books series). But he's got a ton of different stuff that would be worth checking out.

u/P3N9U1Nren · 1 pointr/FreeEBOOKS

The first two (2) ebooks in the trilogy are currently available from Amazon for no cost. The third is 5.99$USD.
The Green Ember (The Green Ember #1)
Ember Falls (The Green Ember #2)

not free Ember Rising (The Green Ember #3)

Sounds somewhat like the Afterlife series by Mur Lafferty

https://www.amazon.com/Heaven-Afterlife-Book-Mur-Lafferty-ebook/dp/B004YDTGM2

u/bobmyknob · 1 pointr/FreeEBOOKS

In case anyone wants the Amazon link - http://www.amazon.com/Heaven-Afterlife-Book-Mur-Lafferty-ebook/dp/B004YDTGM2/

You can also find links to the rest of the series there.

u/Musical_life · 2 pointsr/PolishGauntlet

If you are a gamer, then look at The Guardians of the Flame by Joel Rosenberg.

If not, I can suggest the A Wizard in Rhyme series or Terry Brooks Landover series.

Demon hunting has never quite looked like this before. But then again, Baal isn't your typical demon.

"Kingdom Come" will have you riveted as you journey alongside rookie demon hunter Jason Collins and his rise to a battle he never asked for.
