Nevada is awesome. Sheldon is awesome.

You'll have a blast.

The majority of NV is relatively undocumented. You can hike up any of the thousands of peak in the state, but most are not even named. Even fewer have real trailheads or established trails. They are still amazing hikes with countless hidden wonders.

85% of the land in the state is /r/publiclands. You are allowed to camp basically anywhere on the BLM or FS land for up to 17 days at a time in the same spot.

Backpacking can be difficult due to lack of water, but there are still several great trails in the area. And you are an easy day's drive from most of the best the West has to offer. If you have multiple days off in a row, take time to explore CA, OR, etc.

However, you can often get all the solitude of backpacking while car camping in NV. You can go weeks and not see another person in the valley. My favorite NV camping is remote car camping + long day hikes.

Generally, desert camping is easier than other camping. Tents are mostly unnecessary. Rain is infrequent. When it does rain, it is enjoyable and anything wet dries in less than a day. Bears are not in that area. Insects aren't bad. No poison ivy/oak. The vegetation isn't usually too thick to easily walk through even off trail.

Talk to people when you get there. Explore and find out how awesome things are for yourself. Just because something isn't talked about on the internet or marked on a map doesn't mean it isn't beautiful/unique/awesome.

Be cautious about advice from people without a sun tan. There are lots of misconceptions about what NV is like. Stay away from the type who try to scare you or tell you there is nothing there.

Buy this atlas. Buy this hat.

Make sure to visit some hot springs.

Old Posh Englishmen love their tea! (on the Unsorted wishlist)

I'd probably self-conscious but force myself to wear this. I can't deny my love of kawaiisugoidokidoki any longer. (Under Unsorted list)

I think this looks more like a [sex toy](http://www.amazon.com/Bed-Head-BH320-Ceramic- Styling/dp/B0092MCQZ4/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2BN02OVKX5FBY&coliid=I2GB3XZY9AE4M1) but it's the only sexual looking thing on any of my wishlists. (Under Beauty Products)

Akeleie's Demands:

My most geeky item. (Under Harry Potter but I would never dream of anyone buying this hahaha)

I'm in the midst of cleaning out my room and learning to organize, so this earring hanger would be awesome to achieve my goal of cleanliness! (Under Unsorted)

I'd need this for a deserted island so I could transform into a magical girl and escape. (Under Anime)

It looks great. But the Federal Casemaker is more of a fedora. If you make a new version of it try something a little more like the link.

Congratulations, your comment has earned you one (1) fedora.

Shall I gift wrap it for you?

I love them as long as they don't flop down in my face. I want to be able to see. These are three of the ones I own:

hat 1

hat 2

hat 3

u/themcp · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I own two fedoras. One is sorta brown and has mickey mouse on the bow of the ribbon that goes around it. The other is a cream-colored cotton Stetson fedora. I don't wear either often, because I'm usually listening to music when I'm out and you can't wear headphones with a fedora on. However, on the rare occasions that I'm driving to a social occasion I may bring one.

People go wild over the cream one, I get tons of compliments on it. It's very similar to this one, but slightly lighter color:

I tend to wear it with pants that match the hat, and a brightly colorful shirt. Yes, it's a bit old-man. I don't care, I'm a bit old-man, and the look works for me. Also, wearing a cream or white hat in the sun helps keep the head cool.

I don't know quite what you mean about hate associated with fedoras. If you mean "it's trendy so people are hating on it," well, I don't really care, I've been wearing fedoras on and off for 25 years and see no reason to change my style just because something I've liked all along was trendy and maybe now isn't. If you mean something else, I'd appreciate if you would be so kind as to tell me, because maybe I'm missing something.

Your age and location. In many US locations, a cowboy hat for outside work is completely normal no matter your age. Scala Pro hats have a golfy look. If you want a dressier look, a panama-styled hat might work for you. Or a dressy straw fedora.

I completely agree that trilbys are for hipster jerks.

But your age and geographic area would help in knowing what to recommend.

u/Sparxx_Interface · 1 pointr/Fallout

This one is pretty close: Henschel (Amazon Link)

Rough it up a little, and get some dark dye for the band.

It's pretty much a trilby. You can find something similar here on amazon
