Yup...I don't know if you have general space constraints either, but my last apartment had roughly 22" of available counterspace; I had to do all of my meal-prep on my dinner table...the price of living in the city I guess, lol. My current place has enough room for an upright deep freezer & a future second unit, but then I'm short on storage space for glass containers, not to mention it'd cost north of a thousand bucks to get all of the glassware I'd need, so...yeah, haha.

On a tangent, if you're looking for a bit more freezer storage space & surface work space & have the budget available, you can buy a compact chest freezer for around $200 (~7cf), then glue a large, standalone butcher block to it, so now you have extra freezer space AND an extra work surface. Anyway, yeah - we all have to make due with the resources we have available, and still need to use our available options even when they're not the best of the best available, but I also don't think we should have to feel guilty for making choices given our current circumstances!

I've been looking at getting a bigger desk too, and one thing I've been considering is assembling my own from parts on amazon. You can get a decent table top for 50-150, and table legs for 30-100, depending on style, size, and quality. I'll link the ones I'm thinking about ordering.

There are other options than these, but for less than $200, you can put together a pretty decent, good size desk for yourself.

BTW, when we were tearing our kitchen out, I set up a couple tables on the back patio and bought a butane stove similar to this one. It'll take a bit to boil a huge pot of water or some such, but it was really handy and worked surprisingly well for how cheap it was. I still use it occasionally.

And while I'm on the topic, I might mention I also bought a couple bus tubs to do the washing in. One had hot, soapy water for scrubbing, one was for rinsing.

It actually wasn't too bad a set up.

If money truly is no object, a commercial grade circulator from Polyscience is the best you can get. It is a bit of an overkill for home use. If I had money to burn, I would have a bigger kitchen, and my second circulator would be from Polyscience. They make several models. Here is one on Amazon.

A chamber vacuum sealer would be nice to have, as well as at least two baths--one insulated for longer cooks, and a standard one.

Follow the 3-S System. Soup, Salad, Sandwich (or tortilla wrap, your preference).

Essential to this system are these. Sandwiches and Salads are incredibly quick to make. You can make 3 or 4 in 20 minutes, each with different toppings, and put them in the lunch trays.

Soups can take awhile if you chop everything up and simmer them for a long time. However, order yourself one of these and you can make soups effortlessly. Just blanch/boil your vegetables in stock, add seasoning, and blend them up.

You can do this with basically any vegetable(s), and it's really easy to get a large serving of vegetables because you can drink 8-12 oz of soup really easily. I'll warm mine up in a glass in the microwave and just drink it. You'll be really surprised how much less you're craving food with 12 oz's of soup in your stomach.

I also use these, they have a small divider and I chop up a bunch of vegetables and keep them in there to make salads/sandwiches/tortilla wraps. Tortilla wraps are great! Bit of hummus, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion, bell pepper, (meats are optional), some italian dressing, and you have yourself an amazing veggie wrap. These make making them incredibly easy.

If you were only going to do one thing, order those lunch trays. You can make an entire weeks worth of lunches in one night. Chicken, rice, vegetable, and put in the trays for a weeks worth of lunches. Might not have the most variety, but it's easy as hell.

This looks like the fastest way to me but it's pretty pricey. Another place to start might be to modify something like this to work as a docking tool rather than a roller.

Use the advice in the other comment, where you vacuum seal some ice cubes. Let it sit out until the water thaws and then see where your leaks are. That will show you where you might have dirt on the heat sealer.

Wiping it might help, especially if you wipe it while it's warm. Be careful not to burn yourself and use something that won't melt or otherwise be affected by the heat. Like a dry paper towel as long as you keep it moving so it doesn't burn or get stuck.

If you want to do it cold then you can try scraping it very, very gently with like a small razor blade or something along those lines. But that's more if it's dirty enough that you can see where plastic is stuck to it. Still... Be very careful and very gentle that you don't damage it though, because then it won't seal right anyway.

It might be better to see if you can order a replacement strip for it, but since the company's not offering much support it might not matter.

You can buy something like this (they should have cheaper ones) and use it to manually seal the bags ahead of where the vacuum sealer is attempting to do so.

But that bag works better as a backpack, doesn’t have hooks to strap it down better to a bike. It comes with a drink holder, that works fair but you still get a little spillage if you drive like I do.
I recently just purchased the postmates backpack and that comes with metal hooks, which really makes the tie down to the bike more secured, also comes with a crappy little drink holder.

Unless you were planning on doing GrubHub anyway, don't be a sleazebag. Go ahead and invest in quality hot bag(s) that don't have another company's branding all over it.
