  1. Water - Lots of it. Bring a water bottle of some sort that you can refill. Be sure to refill it before workshops and be sure to drink.

  2. Backpack - Bring something that you can carry all your papers, handouts and guidebook in. One of those drawstring backpacks is best (IMHO). You can find them pretty cheap at Target/Wal-Mart type stores.

  3. Business cards - You are going to make a lot of new best friends very quickly. Bring business cards. Don't have any? Make some up with your printer and some cardstock.

  4. Go To Plenary - No, it is not the most exciting part of GA, but this is your opportunity to be heard and to make a difference. Listen to what is being discussed, especially if you are a delegate. Also: Read the agenda beforehand! It makes it easier to follow

  5. Bring a snack - Granola bars, Cliff bars, Bananas, whatever. There is a chance you will be running from place to place and may not get an opportunity to eat. Have a back up.

  6. Know your limits - You cannot do it all. It's okay to say to yourself, "I am exhausted! I'm going to skip this one program and get a nap." You can't do it all, don't kick yourself if you want to rest. Your body is telling you to do so for a reason.

  7. Find a place to eat before you get there - Convention center food is fair at best. Google restaurants near the convention center and make plans to hit those for lunch. They're probably cheaper too.

  8. DO NOT MISS: Synergy, Service of the Living Tradition, Opening Celebration and the Ware Lecture.

I don't know if you are in the youth or young adult groups, but they have a lot of separate activities that are great for community building. I suggest trying to attend those (if you are in that demographic). If you have a group that you are with, meet once a day to check in with each other, but do not become clickish. Go out and "press the flesh"! Meet new people!

I recommend journaling every night before bed. It is a great way to settle all the things that have just been put into your head and will give you some concrete things to take back to your congregation. Just take 15 minutes after you brush your teeth.

Bring extra cash. There are a lot of UU knick-knacks you will want, and bring your Standing On The Side of Love t-shirt (if you don't have one, you may want to buy one there for $20 or just bring a yellow shirt)

That's all I got. I'm sure others have better advice for ya!

if you are going full rain-gear, it would include either making your only bike all-weather compatible (full fenders, etc) with the understanding that it will be clunkier to ride and will deteriorate more quickly (rust, sand, drive train, brakes). if you can swing it, get a beater bike that is specifically set up for rain and keep your nice bike (if your bike is nice) in fair weather condition.

carry a basic toolkit (spanner, hex wrench multi tool, spoke wrench, tire levers) and a spare tube or two. unless you want to carry a small handpump, you could invest in some CO2 cartridges and a small inflator. include some elastics, bungees, and a small roll of rubberized gaffer tape (just tear a strip of a few feet and roll it on itself so you have a little finger of black magic) -- the tape can be used for many things, from lashing something to your frame to layering up and booting a tire puncture. last but not least, buy a box of rubber gloves, and keep a few pairs rolled up in your kit. all of this can fit in a small saddlebag, handlebar bag, or hip pouch.

along with your standard toolkit and flat repair/replacement kit, carry an emergency rain poncho and a pair of rubber boot covers. boot covers are especially nice if you end up getting a pair of shoes that you don't want sprayed with water and sand should you get caught in a downpour or have to ride on sticky/tacky surfaces after a rain.

if there is a chance you are going to be riding at night, get a rear flasher and a good headlight (a powerful LED array with multiple modes & brightnesses). good lights usually have a rechargeable external battery pack -- carry a spare battery pack or at least get a few cheap LED flashers (frog knog or similar) to keep in your toolkit as a backup.

one last thing that i find helpful is keeping a few drawstring backpacks rolled up in my kits, as they can really come in handy if you need to pick up or carry something (or remove some clothing) unexpectedly. when not in use they fold up smaller than a deck of cards. if you have to lock your bike up outside and have a nice saddle, you can tie one of these over it so it's not so obviously nice.

i didn't really answer any if your big questions with specific recommendations, or cover any basic cycling equipment (like riding gloves or bike locks), but these are little tricks or lightbulb discoveries that i've picked up over biking in the city for the past 12 or 13 years. most of the small things are non-essential, but come in very handy and can save a lot of unneeded cleanup and frustration. now i never ride without them.

It doesn’t list a laptop sleeve and I don’t think I see one. Can’t be sure. Feedback on these?

The game is over once all the jewels have been taken/discarded. You do not get your adventurers back, they stay until a dragon is defeated. The reason could be, because some magic cards let you love the jewels from one dragon to another, therefore screwing the other people over.

I love this game and used to bring it out regularly, but had to put it aside for a bit, so it doesn't get overplayed. I always play with the Advanced Rules.

The only problem with the game is trying to distinguish between the gold and silver gems.

The bags are a good idea. Here are some that might work really well, I own some myself, but don't know if they match EVERY color available in the game. It comes with 12 bags (2 of each color), so you might be able to use the extras on another game.

I'm now thinking about purchasing these again for this game. It will come in handy when using the blind thief ability. Thanks for the great idea.

Most boat shops have a gift section (At least in Sweden that is my point of reference), steer away from tacky signs like whiskey time is 12:00 to 11:45 etc.

If he don't have one A handheld weather station works for all boat sizes and are (at least for sailors) worth having, https://silva.se/product/uncategorized/adc-summit/ (example)

As suggested below, winecups out of quality plastic, not something that is always prioritized but increases the quality of life at sea.

Sailors canvas bags (https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00L7SEK8W/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new) not something that is a priority to buy but is awesome because they are good for ropes, clothes, dirty clothes, in short words there is a lot of ways to use them.

A water tight wrist watch, with background light of some sort.

A head torch with white and red light for maintenance and night sailing. (Even if one have one, one can have one more)

Nice tools, socket wrenches, allen keys are used everywhere, a good quality spanner is also golden.

I’m a working mom. During the week, I need my bag to hold my laptop. On the weekend, it has to get me through shopping trips and goldfish spills. And then it has to look good if I go out on a date. I’m not into having multiple bags.

I got this Sherpani Convertible Backpack and it is perfect for me. I can wear it as a backpack or as a purse/tote. I’ve even turned it into a crossbody when I’ve needed to.

Edit: So I know this one isn't leather. It isn't even faux leather. But the sealed canvas is super durable and looks really great.

u/YourShoesUntied · 3 pointsr/running

I purchased a few of these (not the exact ones) a couple years ago! I made sure to get a bright color that would be unique and easily recognizable when mixed in with a bunch of other runner's bags. They were cheap and I am not worried about losing them. I also make sure to line the inside of the drawstring bags with a plastic grocery bag if the weather is rainy just to make sure my supplies stay dry.

u/shrike81 · 1 pointr/boardgames

Buy. It's easily me and my girlfriend favorite game. Once you're familiar with the game set up and break down plus a game is like 30-40 minutes. It's great. Also I highly recommend bags! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XDBSEW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I can't recommend them enough. It makes setting up and putting away the game so much faster. The artwork kind of sucks but think of it that you're getting an amazing game for half the price as you'd get for the same game with fancier artwork.

u/Parelle · 3 pointsr/boardgames

Two options I've used here:
For games I know I like, I either design or use others designs for Artscow bags. They have both drawstring and zip canvas ones (the latter best for game transportation)
https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/190164/direct-links-artscowcowcow-draw-bag-designs/page/1?
Plenty of promo codes exist, if you're trouble finding one I'm happy to generate one - PM me. The best deal here is 10 bags for $20 shipped. There's also a Geeklist with completed bags which should also give you a feel for the size of them.

For games which either require a ton of bags (Castles of Burgundy) or just to have extras, I bought a set of these:
Dozen Bright Color Canvas Drawstring Bags https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004XDBSEW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_W3xzzbMGP2TJX

I think they're a little narrower than my husband likes for drawing tiles but they're not too bad. I use 4 or 5 of them in CoB.

u/kuzai123 · 1 pointr/boardgames

After seeing your comment, I searched around on BGG which led me to these - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XDBSEW

They're not coming in until next week, but I hope they fit well!

I have also been struggling to find my perfect NYC commuting solution.

I wear my gym shoes during my commute and keep a couple pairs of nice shoes at work. That means I only have to carry gym clothes (bottoms, top, sports bra) and my foam roller.

I either:

a) put my gym stuff in a small drawstring backpack like this and carry my lunch in my purse (sth like this) with my wallet and other crap. I feel like this option is a little easier to wrangle in crowded spaces.

or

b) pack lunch, wallet and crap, and gym clothes in my back pack (this). This option is easier for my walk, but can be more unwieldily on crowded trains.

I'm gonna look into the option of renting some locker space at my gym. I like the idea of not having to tote all of that stuff around all the time.

u/pujuma · 1 pointr/travel

Just a drawstring backpack will do just fine.

I'm trying my best to adhere to the principle of travelling light.
This I believe is the best option: slim profile, foldable & pocketable, and easily cleanable.

Don't be an inconsiderate ass carrying a bulging backpack and get in other peoples faces.

u/ClickClockWoods · 3 pointsr/WaltDisneyWorld

Since your traveling light, I'd recommend going with this drawstring: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06VTVCK6S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_giXPzbZ9J6XG4

I'm currently using it on my solo trip and it's super light/convenient, yet also feels really sturdy and won't fall apart on you either. I'm really liking it so far.

u/astilwell · 1 pointr/Themepark

I throw everything in a drawstring backpack and utilize lockers or bins/cubbies on the exit side of the coaster train. It's not weird.

I use this one from Ogio, but there are plenty of companies who make them, and you can usually find them pretty inexpensively at places like TJ Maxx, Ross, or Marshall's.

It needs to be clear. If you use something like this you will be fine

u/book_worm526 · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

We all need help sometimes, you can't do it on your own. For example, my son wants this backpack and my help turning it into a Creeper backpack.

u/plasmatorture · 3 pointsr/boardgames

The original box works fine: Put animal tiles, knowledge tiles, goods, buildings, and the center black tiles each in their own smaller portion of the insert. Leave them there for gameplay - when pulling new tiles just grab out of there without looking like you're pulling out of a cup. Everything else can get dumped in the big section since none of that needs to be randomized.

But I bought a set of novelty bags on amazon after a few games of that, and moved my copy of Agricola out of bags and into this box (which, incidentally, is superior to plano since it has rounded bottoms for each compartment). Now the 5 types of tiles that need to be randomized in Castles each have their own cloth bag, and workers, silverlings, castles/mines/boats, and everything else have their own plastic bag respectively.

u/ms_slyx · 1 pointr/boardgames

Not OP, but I bought these and I'm returning them. They were very poorly stitched. The yellow one was falling apart the second I opened the packaging. If you have any sewing skill, drawstring bags are not that difficult to make. I've made one for Carcassonne tiles and am in the process of making another for Alhambra. Pretty decent tutorial here.

Amazon bags. They work fine but aren’t the same colors as CoB.

u/RynoKenny · 2 pointsr/Boardgamedeals

On recommendation, I picked these bags up with the purchase as well

I didn't know until today that there were expansions

I'll check them out eventually, I've been making a rule that I need to milk the base game to almost boredom before purchasing expansions, no matter how good they are. Saves money on expansions for games I don't even really like and increases longevity of the game.
