These ice skates are one of the few things on my wishlist that I want but don't need. I like ice skating. I haven't gone in 4 years though. My ice skates got mildew in them and had to go, and I could rent, but that's no fun once you've had your own. It's been a long time since I've gotten anything just because I want it and don't need it. I actually put it on my wishlist hoping for some kind of contest like this. I don't need it because it's definitely not a daily use, necessary item, but I'll get to enjoy one more activity that I love, so I really really want them! And I think it's a pretty random fact that I love ice skating so much, and learned fairly young, because my dad was a semi - pro speed skater when he was younger. No one would EVER guess that now.
For the love of God, I hope your lower back and knees are well conditioned for the hell they're about to go through! Seriously though, it's rough. I went with these for my two year old because they were cheap. I had no issues with them really, they're nothing special but I needed to make sure he would be comfortable on the ice before I bought him more expensive skates. They worked well though for what they were.
Once you get him/her standing on the ice pretty comfortably, look into getting an "ice walker", one of those elderly people looking style walkers that slide on the ice, that way they can hold themselves up without you bending over constantly.
I started off in these that I bought online. I used the size chart and sized myself. I will say that they always did feel a little loose, but they took me through Adult 1-4 and a Christmas Show (spins, lunges, spirals). The pros of this skate were that they lasted me about 8 months with me skating 2-6 hours a week in them before they started to break at the ankles. They are great for a beginner with a small toe-pick, the stiffness is just right, and they are super comfortable. The cons were that the blades are PERMANENTLY mounted, so you can't have them moved if you have foot issues. Also, I had a big learning curve when I switched to "professional" skates vs. the recreational skates because of the bigger toepick (lots of tripping).
It really just comes down to how much are you going to skate, if you have the time & resources to go to a fitter, and how much you want to spend.
>Hey guys, I used to be a serious blader decades ago when I lived car-free in the City. Looking to get back into transportation/distance skating with my new set of 125 tri-skates.
>
>So my question is, does anyone make an easy on/off set of ‘walking wheel covers’ so I can ‘walk’ inside stores/restaurants/public transport/etc without having to swap to back to shoes? I know many places won’t say anything if you roll in, but enough do that I’d like the option to throw wheel covers on in ~15sec.
>
>FWIW, HERE’S the set that I used decades ago, but of course, they will not fit my 125’s.
>
>Thanks in advance!
Something like this seems like it could be easily modified to fit around a set of inline skates (maybe cutting out the front and/or back of the channel to accommodate the wheels, and/or maybe widening the channel, and/or maybe lengthening that strap that goes over the boot), or may even be able to so do without any modification (depending on how flexible the material around the channel is, the exact size and shape of your wheels, and the length of that strap that goes over the boot vs the height of your skates).
Understandable. :)
I did find the beginner Reidell skates on Amazon, though, if you were interested? They're a great brand. Just make sure you look at the sizing chart as ice skates should be smaller than your shoe size. For instance, my shoe size is anywhere from 4.5 kids to 6 ladies. But my Reidells are 3.5.

If all you're doing is skating for fun, then any skate from $60-$100 is going to be fine for you. Beginners tell me Jackson's low-level skates ($60-$100) are comfortable for them. https://www.amazon.com/Jackson-SoftSkate-Figure-Skates-Fleece/dp/B06XPX7YPJ/
P.S. These kinds of skates would also be just fine for Learn-to-Skate lessons. You'd only need to get something stronger ($200-$300 skates) once you start working on jumps and spins.
Lots of itty bitty kids at the rinks near me seem to have good luck with these skates
Double check with your skating program to make sure they allow 2 year olds. I believe the Learn to Skate USA program has a minimum age of 4.
I'm actually working on a two-toned body suit right now for my Red Daughter of Krypton and what I'm doing is just stitching the two red and black fabrics together to make a whole. (I could probably provide some pictures if you want.) You could paint the darker colors on instead but I don't think it would look as authentic and there's a lot of risks doing that:

Pattern 1
Pattern 2

Those are both really good patterns to start with if you want to construct it from scratch. :)
They don't look tight enough. Invest in a skate key to help you pull the laces or just get something strong that will allow you to pull them tighter.

a bag like this? i am surprised they are so cheap..which one do you personally use? the custom towel is also a good idea. Do you know a site where I can order one? google didnt really help me
On a similar note, has anyone every picked up a pair of K2 softboot skates or bladerunner zephyr ? I've been low balling people on ebay for a month now trying to snag a cheap pair with no luck. Would love some feedback from someone on here before I spend any real money.
I was in the army but got injured and discharged. My ex husband was in the army for 10 years while we were married. My grandma and grandpa were both marines my other grandpa was in the airforce, I have a great uncle who died on d day and was buried in Normandy.
Oddly enough this picture was taken hours before my car accident and the second one was whenever I got out of the hospital.

The other comments are great, but if you're still having trouble you might want to try getting some lace hooks, which help get things tighter if you're a little new at this.
I ended up buying these about a month ago. They're serving me pretty well so far, no complaints.
Looks like the hooks we used to use to tighten our skates in hockey. Usually used by kids because cold hands and rough laces don't mix well.

Get the strap-on double runner blades.
Stand on tipy toes on the stairs with your heal suspended in the air. Now put your weight on your heels and bring them lower than your toes. Keep your legs straight when you do this.
You can also get a stretch board like this and stand on it with your shoes on. This helped me the most:

For keeping skates tight. Also can try a lace puller. I use them. Don't go too tight and cut off circulation though.
