🎓 Reddit experts on identification badges
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where identification badges are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
I'll second or third a pulse oximeter. Maybe get a couple, because they will be lost at some point. Hospitals usually have them as well, but they tend to be bigger and bulkier and don't really fit into pockets nicely. It's nice to have your own (write your name/number on it in permanent marker!). Also a gift card for scrubs is a great idea.
A badge lanyard:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UE1QGGC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/Lola-Lung-Retractable-Respiratory-Specialist/dp/B00KIOY5EU/ref=sr_1_1?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1466862284&sr=1-1&keywords=lola+lung
Badge ID pocket reference cards, they have tons of different ones and you can get them either vertical or horizontally: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009BE9BCY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/Rapid-ID-Obstructive-Restrictive-Horizontal/dp/B00N33A8P8/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1_a_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466863446&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=abg+badge+id+card+pocket+reference
Also blank ones (you can use a dry erase marker or ballpoint pen and reuse - might be helpful to jot notes or keep codes for various rooms handy): https://www.amazon.com/Blank-Plastic-Horizontal-Pocket-Reference/dp/B00BNYK05M/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1466863602&sr=8-1&keywords=blank+badge+id+card+pocket+reference
Or maybe just a pocket guide: https://www.amazon.com/Respiratory-Notes-Therapists-Pocket-Daviss/dp/0803629222/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1466865465&sr=8-4&keywords=respiratory+therapist
A lot of people where I work use these things: https://www.amazon.com/Mitten-Medical-Professional-Stethoscope-Scrub-Lock/dp/B0187VBMY6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1466863731&sr=8-2&keywords=respiratory+therapist+accessories
If you buy a pricey stethoscope, I would advise you to spend $10-15 extra and have it engraved. Nice things have a way of "disappearing" if misplaced. You can also buy something like this, but keep in mind they are removeable: https://www.amazon.com/Littmann-L2170-Adults-Stethoscope-Black/dp/B000SKF9VW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466864605&sr=8-1&keywords=stethoscope+name+tag
There are also novelty gifts like:
http://www.visualanatomy.com/shop/default.aspx
https://www.amazon.com/Super-Respiratory-Therapist-Shirt-Large/dp/B01EPEX1X4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466865465&sr=8-1&keywords=respiratory+therapist
Also novelty coffee cups, pens, markers, lunchboxes, and jewelry.
Also, a student can never have too much practice for the boards, and the earlier you start preparing the better. This is just one of many, many practice guides: https://www.amazon.com/Comprehensive-Respiratory-Therapist-Exam-Review/dp/0323067018/ref=sr_1_49?ie=UTF8&qid=1466865661&sr=8-49&keywords=respiratory+therapist
Other thoughts: maybe a subscription to Audible.com - there are TONS of respiratory books available. They might not have time to read additional books on top of required reading for school, but anyone can listen to an audiobook while driving, running errands.
Please check the subreddit if the question has been answered already!
This is probably the most asked question on this subreddit. The easiest way to get usps 228's is to trade with people from the United states if you want the classic USPS 228 labels. Or you could simply purchase blanks as they are almost available in every stationary shop or office depo, Sometimes they all called "name badges" Websites such as graffcity, amazon and ebay all offer a wide range of blanks. Here are some blanks graffcity offer: https://www.graff-city.com/product_info.php?products_id=3288 I believe in Germany you can get stickers from both UPS and DHL (thermals) here's a video that may be useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wN7MRzt1krY
Try taking a look at some "name labels" or "name badges" they can often have some pretty interesting designs and they hold up okay in the street depending on the material they are made out of and how sticky they are. Take a look here: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_16?url=search-alias%3Doffice-products&field-keywords=hello+my+name+is+stickers&sprefix=hello+my+name+is+stickers%2Coffice-products%2C392&rh=n%3A1064954%2Ck%3Ahello+my+name+is+stickers and http://www.amazon.com/C-Line-Pressure-Sensitive-Badges-92265/dp/B009R5Y4LA/ref=sr_1_3?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1460602964&sr=1-3&keywords=c+line+labels You could also try looking at thermal stickers as they are made from a waterproof material. I however would recommend eggshell stickers: http://www.eggshellstickers.com/#!blanks/cjdh They are SUPER sticky and will stick to ALL surfaces. Once applied they are impossible to remove as they are made from a special material called destructible vinyl which is delicate and will break into tiny pieces when trying to be removed. I hope I helped and answered all of your questions
I got a really good recommendation from r/opiates that I figured I'd post here.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BSG7OWM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_hWVBAbENEMPAP
they sell these on amazon, this link is for like 250 of them but they sell 1 or 10 packs too. I ended up ordering a 10 pack, and that will be plenty for a long time. I also got the recommendation of getting rewards cards from chain pharmacies/grocery stores etc. which is a great idea and I'm definitely going to do that next time I'm at a place like that. Between buying 10 of those off amazon and the rewards cards I'll definitely never run out or have to buy any more again.
never done anything like this myself, but i have some ideas to get around the hologram. works best if it's just 1 small hologram.
whether it's a hanging placard or a window sticker it's the same general idea. buy some holographic stickers and use an exacto knife or whatever you can to cut out a shape vaguely resembling the logo needed. the general shape is the important part, not the fine details.
now make it look like it's a piece of shit. peel back the hologram section of a window sticker and muck up your window where it would've been so it looks like the adhesive is crap, and obscures the hologram portion of the sticker.
if it's a placard they'll almost always have a thin plastic film over it that has the hologram. use a screen protector to imitate this. now do the same thing as the window sticker, and peel back the portion of the film that would be on the hologram, and be sure to get just enough dust and grime in the adhesive so it's murky.
be sure to borrow a friends so you can measure the sizes and proportions as closely as possible.
best of luck!
There's no boxed set for Fate and the only thing you really need are dice, but there are a some things that can be helpful:
You may even want to get two colours of fate points so you can distinguish between player and GM points (instead of drawing checkboxes like they do in the video, I put a fate point on the card to indicate free invokes - that's when it's useful to keep track of which is for whom).
Thanks! It was fun to put together and the family loves it!

From the original thread's OP, /u/hovee
If it's colored wire (without the rubber casing) be sure to burn the coating off with a lighter, and invest in a can of flux. A third hand would also be a good idea, and for the love of god, don't use electrical tape to insulate everything! Should be fairly simple though, I have 100% faith in you.

I literally just used these for the same type of thing. Depending how many you need it’s a pretty quality value purchase. Permanent markers written on them work great!
The briefcases are Solo Grand Central Attaché Cases.
On the outside each one got an Engraved Plaque with the groomsman's name and nickname.
The axe is a Columbia River CRKT Birler Compact Axe.
The liqueur is a small bottle of JW Black Label 200ml.
The little silver oval is a collapsible shot glass.
Vintage Bicycle Cards.
The inside is cut EVA foam stacked three high, carved to hold the items, glued together, covered in red velvet cloth from Hobby Lobby, adhered with Gorilla spray adhesive.
The straps are leather bracelets (also from Hobby Lobby) dyed black using Fiebing's Leather Dye, with a bronze topper (brads?) to cover the screw anchoring them in place.
I don't have a good shot of the inside top, but there is a cigar (I forget which brand, I'm not really a cigar guy). They were rectangular. You can see it at the top of the third shot.
Also a silver pen, a cigar cutter, a small survival tool, a credit card knife, and an Oz-Kurt engraved flip knife.
I also wrapped the axe handle in a Leather strapping to give it some extra texture.
Whelp, I THINK that's everything. Thanks for taking interest in my post!
OH! And the Kikkerland Chemistry 101 Flask Book
I bought 4 color changing bulbs and change the lighting to fit the scene (purples and greens for a fungus cave, greens and blues for forests, etc.) These can also be used outside of gaming!
I also have lap white boards to track all kinds of things during the game. I give one to a player to track initiative and use one for tracking monster HP. Other players use them to track various things as well and they can be used as modular maps in a pinch.
Similarly I got these blank ID cards because they're actually dry erase! They aren't super useful compared to the mini white boards, I end up using them for MTG instead.
A 1-inch hole punch can be used to create super cheap tokens (print monster faces on card stock.)
I also want to touch upon something else you mentioned. You said you were having trouble keeping track of zones and aspects.
I use a standard grid battle mat to draw out the rough area and divide it into zones. We use figurines or markers like we would in Pathfinder and D&D, we just don't have to worry about the individual squares.
For board aspects, I use index cards, sticky notes, or - my personal favorite - wet erase cards and place them directly on the map/table. If the aspect has a free invoke, I place a fate point directly on it. When it is used, the player picks it up off the card and hands it back to me.
Here is a blog post I wrote with some Fate materials that may help you.
Thanks Adventux - I did see that for the brand I linked.
RPGAcademy had a link to ID badges that work well:

I'll update when I get them!
You can carry a card in your wallet that explains your situation and let's you order from the kids menu or great idea a side dish like you suggested! My nurse gave me one.

I use these reusable washable Blank PVC Plastic Cards for Photo ID card Printers.
I use extra fine tipped wet erase markers. When the game session is over, I keep all cards with aspects needed for the next session. I rinse the other used card's ink off in the sink and dry in the dish rack.
I use different colors for different aspect types.
I start mooks and most NPCs "character sheet" on one or two of these cards. Once we are sure a character will be around a while, I transfer them to paper.

You say that like it's somewhat difficult or requires an element of skill.
All it takes is an order of these and a computer with an inkjet printer.
The reason government issued is the rule is that they're both more standardized & (generally) more secure. School IDs could look like anything and won't (generally) have security enhancements. Unless you're intimately familiar, you wouldn't be able to distinguish a real one from a fake (and even then, it's not a guarantee).

Oh please. The RFID type, which are more expensive than the mag stripe cards we are talking about here, retail for 30 cents apiece. Mag stripe cards retail for less than 5 cents apiece. Wholesale prices are a fraction of those.
