In that budget and for a student who wants to do light gaming, this Acer Aspire E 15 remains one of my top recommended systems. It is not too heavy, will handle light gaming, has a good back-lit keyboard, 1080p resolution and most of all, an incredible 12 hours battery life which I have proven first hand.

The best value laptop on the market right now is probably the Dell Inspiron 7559 for $670. It comes with a quad core i5-6300HQ processor, 8gb of ram and a 256GB SSD. It has a GTX 960M graphics card which should work well for any graphic intensive program you find yourself using. It also has a full 1080p IPS display, a very long battery life (advertised up to 10 hours), and a backlit keyboard. It's only problem is it's a bit on the heavy side at 5.6 pounds.

It's only a 6th gen skylake processor, but it is a quad core, and much more powerful than a 7th gen dual core i7.

Another option to look into that I would suggest is the HP 15 for $585. It would fit your needs well with specs that work just fine including a skylake i7 processor, 8gb of ram and a 256gb ssd. It has a 1080p IPS display, but only integrated graphics. It's also of moderate weight at 4.7 pounds and has a decent battery (advertised up to 6 hours).

A good middle-ground option would be the Acer E15 for $700. It has a Kaby Lake dual core i7 processor, 8gb of ram and 256gb ssd. It also has a GTX 940MX dedicated GPU, which isn't as powerful as the 960M but much more powerful than the integrated graphics in the HP. It also has a full 1080p display (TN panel though, not IPS), and a very long advertised battery.

Hi im looking to get into melee netplay seriously and im in the market for a new laptop. I would like some advise about the better deals right now and any recommended laptop models. my budget is around 700$ dunno if waiting on black friday deals would be a better choice. laptop would be used mainly for student work and netplay some minor gaming like emulators league of legends and maybe overwatch. current laptop im looking into https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-NVIDIA-Windows-E5-575G-75MD/dp/B01LD4MGR6/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=laptopunderbudget-20&linkId=9dd31a181ae650453d4bfa1cdb0d2974 any recommendations or advise are welcomed thank you.

Nothing specific, but there are definitely good and bad suggestions. Do not get a Chromebook, for example.

You definitely want something with an SSD and a decent display (1080p IPS display), battery life, and CPU (i5 or i7). Backlit keyboards are also nice. I personally don't care about touch screens, and prefer laptops without them, but that's completely subjective.

You won't need anything super powerful just for CS. You pretty much only need a very powerful computer if you plan to play a lot of games or do serious rendering (so 3D modeling, video editing, etc.).

For $707, this Dell laptop is a very good option. It is powerful enough to not be useless after a few years, has a backlit keyboard and a solid display, a 256 gig SSD, a 2.3 GHz quad-core i5 processor, and 8 gigs of DDR3 RAM. It can even be used for moderate gaming. The biggest drawbacks are its weight, and for you, the price.

This Acer is also pretty good, and it costs a little less, but I don't think it has backlit keys, and it has a worse display (TN instead of IPS, meaning it will have worse colors). It actually has a better CPU, though.

For $700, this ASUS is a solid choice. It is lighter and smaller, has a good display, backlit keyboard, and it even has a fingerprint reader.

You should also look at Lenovo's ThinkPads. They're very customizable and you can open them up and upgrade them in a few years if you want. The good ones cost more, though.

Yup. Here is the link
I have the version with the I5-6200U and been very pleased with it. As a Mechanical Engineer, I've been able to use 3D CAD programs with it and it run smoothly and I am able to game on it as well. Nothing too drastic, but it does pretty decent while gaming.

*Note: The price is for Amazon Prime members, otherwise it is closer to $800 if I am not mistaken.

I am trying to capture black ops 3 on Xbox one. So I have a blue snowball mic connected to my laptop as well as everything required for the elgato all hooked up. I also have the party chat cable connected to the controller, my headset, and the Elgato. As for my laptop, here is the link https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LD4MGR6/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1501432236&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=acer+aspire+e15%2C+7th+gen&dpPl=1&dpID=41HfDkXXyeL&ref=plSrch. I am using an Xbox one elite controller and a king top headset. Where would I find those volume settings?

How big would the difference be between the core i7 and i5?

u/plywood42 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

I found this laptop isn't this the same thing with an i7 for the exact same price?

Mentioned the Macbook only cus you mentioned it's pricing haha. Currently looking at this. Looking for a laptop that has a basic 128GB and above SSD and an entry level GPU. Budget would be around 1.3-1.4k SGD, but obviously these deals on Amazon would really help me spend within my budget.

u/WhereMySangheili · 1 pointr/laptopmasterrace

Here's one that should be able to run those games (and more) just fine on medium/high settings. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LD4MGR6/ref=twister_B072LZ3S17 though you may want to spring for a 1 TB hard drive to go along with the SSD (the laptop has easy access to the HD slots)

  • Dell
This laptop has a quad core i7 cpu, 960m graphics,1 tb hdd,4k touch display. The main downfall here is 8 gb of RAM.

  • Lenovo
This laptop has a dual core i7, 12gb RAM, 940MX, 1tb hdd,1080p screen. Downfall here is the dual core.

  • Acer
This laptop is similar to the lenovo with a dual core i7, 8gb RAM, 1080p screen, 940mx, but has a 256gb ssd not hdd. downfalls is small storage.

IMO: the best laptop here is the dell. Because of your designing in adobe products you should also take a google around checking out the color accuracy in both srgb and adobe rgb on the screens. It is 25% off where i am not sure about you. I wouldn't just take my advice but rather google around searching with keywords like "best laptop for Photoshop under $xxx". Because of your designing in adobe products you should also take a google around checking out the color accuracy in both srgb and adobe rgb on the screens. Im sure you will find one that suits your needs just fine. and i wish you goodluck. :)))

For your requirements, I would suggest the Acer Aspire E 15 With it, you get a

  • 1920x1080 IPS display
  • i7-7200U up to 3.5 GHz
  • Nvidia GTX 940MZ 2 GB
  • 8 GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM
  • 256 GB SSD
  • Up to 12 hours of battery life
  • 5.3 lbs

Overall, I think this is the perfect laptop for you. It's a great and sturdy laptop that isn't too flashy and can definitely do anything high school demands of you and a little more. It is a little bit bigger than you specified at 15.6", if you don't mind. You also save $200 from your initial price point, which I think is a plus. I've even included a discrete GPU, so you still have the option to do light gaming. It also won't eat up your battery life either. If you can't get over the screen size, then there is also the Acer Aspire S 13 Touch. It is 13.3" and a 2 in 1, but you lose the graphics card and will have to pay $65 more. In my opinion, you will be better off with the E15. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
