Can you simply remove the shelf and add another one without the lip? I used this when the old sliders on my desk failed, you could pair these brackets with a piece of mdf cut to the right length.

Perhaps just buy a clamp on adjustable tray, and replace the tray with the wood you want?

Cheaper option if non-clamp on is acceptable:

I built this using 1 4x8' oak playwood sheet at $52. 2 22" brackets at $9 a [iece, and 2 16" brackets at $7 a piece. I had everything else on hand. I spent some money on this bracket to use for an extension which come out 22" on my left to double my workspace, and this one here for the keyboard which can accomodate a mouse and note pad as well. The upper deck is holding 100 lbs of books and equipment right now and not even feeling it. I can sit on the lower desk and I weigh about 180 lbs.

I would try to hide the angle irons I used somehow if I were to try something different, but they add so much stability and rigidity to the desk... I would also have taken more time with the staining, but there just isn't any time...

I love my new desk!

Initially it was one of those articulating trays, but I didn't like it. So I scrapped the "arm" and bolted the tray itself to some rails. It doesn't swivel or tilt anymore, but it's super solid.

Is your desk big enough for three monitors? If so, just get a 1x12x(however long you want) board from Lowe's and a keyboard slider and do it yourself.

Also, are you sure you need a full sized keyboard? There are really only two reasons: ip addresses and calculations. You could talk probably get away with an 80% and maybe a separate keypad.

I'd suggest getting the PC on the floor or an under desk holder. And I'd also suggest arms to get those monitors up off the desk. I also built my own keyboard tray, it saved me a lot of room on the desktop by moving my keyboard and mouse off of it. You really only need the keyboard tray rails like these http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Ball-bearing-Keyboard-Slide/dp/B000KQ5E82 a sturdy piece of wood for that.

Hey there,

I'm looking for sturdy undermount adjustable height locking railmount slides for a project and wasn't sure about the best place to ask for a recommendation.

If you wouldn't mind, could you either help with a recommendation if you know of good slides, or if not that point me in the direction of the best place to ask. I'm kind of at a loss where to even look beyond googling so I decided to try asking here.

I'm currently using these Lee Valley slides on a self built computer to hold my mouse and keyboard:
http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.aspx?p=48619&cat=3,43614,43616&ap=1

However, these slides don't lock firmly enough for my tastes so I'm looking for a replacement. I found these on amazon:

I'm wondering if anybody here has any personal experience though to comment. I need ones that lock very sturdy because movement while I'm trying to do stuff on my computer is super annoying and I currently have to put up with a bit of wobble.
