OK, so 2 Cables exist to adapt an aux to the CDA-9856 one is the Line-in AI-NET adapter:

If you have the old iPhone 4 style 30 pin iPod connector you MAY just try an apple 30 pin to lighting adapter But I hazard a guess that it does data and charging only and you would need the aux cord anyway because that's how some were back then you needed both.

of course you may pull the deck and see if there is the AI-Net plug in there already just not extended to the dash, it looks like this.
