The monitor isn't super special, kinda got it for free through a random gift card, but it's been pretty good.

I think it's this one.

I use the HP 2711x and its beautiful. But try this. I just upgraded from my Wall mounted TV to a monitor and I've been doing research on them recently.

Sounds like your monitor needs aren't too fancy. Something like this would do:
http://www.amazon.com/VE278H-27inch-Screen-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B0099XBO5E/ref=sr_1_24?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1371846224&sr=1-24

You basically want FullHD (1920X1080), LED backlight, and as low a response time as possible. This one has 2 ms.

I'd suggest one of the entry level gaming gaming mice from Logitech or Razer, like this one:

Keep in mind that higher screen resolutions will strain your video card more when gaming. Also, many slightly older games don't support ultrawide resolutions. As such, if you want a very nice screen that won't strain your card, you might consider this 27" 1080p screen by Asus. It's what I'm running now, and I love it. A 4k screen of similar size would also be a good choice, as it's exactly double 1080p in resolution and, as such, games that only go up to 1080p will still look right. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0099XBO5E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

> Thanks for all the help guys! This was great!

> I have it narrowed down to 2 monitors - please help me select from among these two:

> The Benq - http://amzn.to/2pWn8jW This is the more expensive one, and also smaller by 3 inches. It's a shade under $200, and is the preferred brand by gamers it appears. However, I'm a nerd and like big screens (I'm moving from a 55" 4K TV) so the next one caught my eye.

> The ASUS - http://amzn.to/2qvJ1sj This is the monitor I use at work - its 27" vs 24", and still offers 2 ms response time. I feel like this one would allow me to see more of the pitch, while not sacrificing ms's.

> So, that's what I got - what do you guys think?!?! Leave me thoughts or just comment 1 or 2 so I can get this sorted. Thanks again Fifa Reddit, I don't care what the rest of the internet says about us, we are alright man.

I have one of these but with the 3d option. It is 144 hz with a 2ms response time. I have had this monitor for about a year now and have had no problems with it. Good color, very smooth and is very adjustable.

I would recommend something like this for now. A very good monitor for the price. It also has built in speakers so you dont need to buy any of those.

u/BearsEatGrub · 1 pointr/suggestapc

I'm going to assume that you didn't include the monitor, keyboard, and mouse in your $100 budget. I'll set your peripheral budget at $500.

Gaming Desktop ($959)

Gaming Mouse ($50)

Gaming Keyboard ($110)

Monitor ($180)

Total: $1,300

I don't have a wide knowledge of monitors, but I think this is the best deal for its specs. Try /r/monitors

I hope I could help. Best of luck.

This monitor is excellent.

Monitor question:

I'm going big on a monitor! I'm looking at this one from Monoprice: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=113&cp_id=11307&cs_id=1130703&p_id=10489&seq=1&format=2 but I don't know, people are saying its shit.

Then there's the dell ultrasharp 24": http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005JN9310/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2IQCZNJ527KMR&coliid=I3NF3XG1G3A7CV and this one is just plain nice.

And then there's this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0099XBO5E/ref=psdc_1292115011_t3_B009HNEBLK

Just another great monitor.

Any ideas which I should shoot for?

u/Todesfaelle · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

I thought it was a broader range of electronics for some reason so that's my bad.

Even so, is there a reason why certain monitors such as this (for example) wouldn't have an EHF but one such as this does? They're both shipped and sold by Amazon.ca.

It'll hit me with full tax though.

u/samthunder · 1 pointr/buildapc

I have been using an Asus VE278 for a long while now and just built a new PC with an i7 8700k and GTX 1660ti. I want to upgrade my monitor next and use this one as an optional dual. I have a budget in mind of 300$ and have never experienced anything above 60hz and 1080p so blow my mind!

Thank you for any recommendations you can provide.

u/bicranium · 1 pointr/xboxone

No reason to get the monitor you mentioned unless your PC is also good for high-end gaming.

Any decent brand 24" monitor will do great for gaming on a console. You could even get a nice 27" monitor for less than that BenQ since you don't need 144hz or any of the other special PC-gaming specific features.

I use this for my Xbox One: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VE278H-1920x1080-Back-lit-Monitor/dp/B0099XBO5E

u/ipoopskittles · 1 pointr/buildapc

Yes this is for gaming. The monitor I️ have:

u/masasuka · 0 pointsr/Monitors

any decent 1080 monitor will do, look for something with low refresh (most half decent ones are between 1ms and 5ms). these are good on the cheap end, and these guys are also awesome

One thing though, what size of monitor are you looking for, and what are you looking to overcome vs your TV?
