On headphones, There's a lot of ways to research.

Such as

  • C-NET - Advertising influenced Professional reviews
  • Consumer Reports - Unbiased Professional reviews
  • Amazon reviews - A metric crap ton of amateur crowd-sourced reviews, and some occasional products with massive amounts of fake reviews

For me I like to use the amazon reviews but I always put the item listing into fakespot. Using Fakespot lets me know the reliability of the ratings because a lot of the lower end earbud listings are completely faked.

My research led me to two separate products I loved. Wired Sony "Studio Headphones", these sound great to my non-audiophile ears. These are sturdy, to me they feel good wearing them and they sound great. Included in the box was an exploded parts diagram with a parts list. These are not break and throw away headphones, these are designed to be serviced. It had great reviews was within my budget $80 and fakespot said the reviews were legit. These are solid, sturdy, designed to be serviced. I freaking love them.

The other product I really like is the Avantree Wireless 40 HR Blue Tooth headphones. The ratings were good, and legit per fakespot, my complaints about my other wireless blue tooth was that I never seemed to have them charged when I wanted them and the range sucked. I double checked the tech specs and the 40hrs wasnt marketing BS. These legit have much higher battery capacity than the other wireless headphones. When I first plugged these in I played them side by side in wired and wireless mode next to the Sony Studio headphones. The bass was deeper, and the mids were better represented, at first I was really happy. These were out performing the Sony Studio Headphones, but as I played more songs side by side, I found I liked these better on most songs, but on some songs it didn't sound the way I remembered them. Then it occurred to me, I plugged the Sony Studio headphones back in, and adjusted the equalizer, I was able to adjust the equalizer such that my Sonys sounded exactly like these, then I figured it out and I was pissed off. These weren't better at reproducing the bass and the mids. They simply have a built in bass boost that can't be turned off. I'd give this product 7 Stars if I could for battery life, but only 4 for bluetooth range, and 2 for the bass boost I cant turn off I get why they do it, if you had to listen to headphones side by side in a store a consumer would hear more bass out of the boosted ones, and think they were better at reproducing bass.

TL;DR lots of ways to research, Fakespot is awesome, some headphone manufacturers use dirty tricks. Beats uses what are basically fishing weights to make their products feel heavier and sturdier, and some manufacturers include a bass boost that you cant turn off.

This is the norm for BT headphones when watching video. Your best bet would be wireless (RF) headphones or a BT transmitter / headphone combo that has fully implemented the low latency APTX protocol.

I use the Homespot adapter (I went with that one because it doesn't stick out as far as the Genki, and I got a pair of low latency headphones - Avantree Audition Pro which seemed best price for low latency https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01A0EAYDI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_brLVDbECHFKJW

I'm not an audiophile, but the quality seems fine and the latency is very small, nearly unnoticeable.

For ballin' on a budget you will want to look at headphones that have the Qualcomm® aptX™ LL codec. These have a latency of around 40ms (1 frame @ 24fps). You can get a pair off Amazon for around $60. I have tested these for an engineering project and they were the best bang-for-the-buck - https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Wireless-Bluetooth-Foldable-Headphones/dp/B01A0EAYDI. But any option that uses the same chipset and codec will work. Be wary - aptX HD is not low latency, and will incur a delay of around 150-200ms - too much for use with sync sound. You may also need an aptX LL transmitter, which you can buy for around $40 - https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Wireless-Headphones/dp/B01N5KKUR0. Bonus is you can take this home and use for TV or other stuff where sync needs to be "close enough." Hook it up to your camera when you shoot and ditch the tether if the sound man doesn't have Comteks.

Other options include oldschool RF and 2.4G technologies, which tend to be more expensive or harder to find. Something like these Sennys should do the trick - https://en-us.sennheiser.com/wireless-headphones-home-audio-rs-175

I like mine: https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Headphones-COMFORTABLE-LIGHTWEIGHT/dp/B00J0BXPD4

Affordable, 40-hour battery life, comfortable and they sound good, too.

They make a "pro" version with more padding, foldable arms, and supposedly lower latency, but I've never had a problem with my "standard" set.

https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Wireless-Bluetooth-Foldable-Headphones/dp/B01A0EAYDI

The Pro does look nice, though.

Avantree Audition Pro https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A0EAYDI/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_ELhWDb909HR34

I got these to pair with my Genki Bluetooth Nintendo Switch adapter because of the APTX chip, but they've been great for music too.

Are you looking for uni-taskers for the Quest or all around headphones?

Over the past 2 years I have transitioned my family to the Avantree Audition Pros $70 they have good sound and APTX LL (Low Latency) codec so work well for gaming and TV. The BT transmitter must have APTX LL as well otherwise they have the standard BT delay. I really like the new AudiKast transmitter as it dual channel for two cans and has optical input.

I am very impressed with the build quality. I bought them first for my youngest son as he was going through cans every 6-9 months at the PC but he has had them for 2 years now and they look and perform brand new. (Also have 2 year Warranty). 40hr battery life and have a 3.5mm jack for wired use.

Having all the TVs and PCs APTX LL enabled has made life in my house with 2 teens much more enjoyable. I can wake up at 2AM and watch a action movie without waking the wife, my kids can play the Smash Bros in the next room while the wife and I watch the news and I don’t have to shut down screen time when one kid is working on homework.

My wife works in radio and can use them at on the air where normal BT cans have just to much delay. She uses the Saturn portable transmitter but it just has a 3.5mm jack so is not as crisp as the units with optical input.

I do have one of their Omni long range transmitters that is single channel for LL only but I can head downstairs and go in the back yard without any disconnects.

Anyone with any input on these: Avantree aptX LOW LATENCY Wireless Headphones? (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Avantree-Comfortable-Bluetooth-Headphones-Lightweight/dp/B01A0EAYDI?th=1)

For out and about, the KZ-ATE in ears. Can't recommend these enough for the price. Sound quality is really good, and they fix in your pocket at gigs. Taken them Moshing many times and they still work just fine.

At work/commuting, the Avantree Audition Pros serve me well. Good quality Bluetooth to my mac/phone. Closed back. Good battery life (two days) and the option of using an aux cable. Once you go wireless, it's hard to go back. They are also very lightweight for over ears.

At home, a pair of Yamaha HS7 Studio monitors going through a MackieProFX8v2 over USB. The mixer has a small 9 band equalizer which I use to pump up the bass a little for casual listening.

The following should work with their TV so that they can simultaneously use the TV speakers for him and the Toslink/RCA hookup for her. I won't give guarantee's but it should since it's at least a newer TV model since you mention it being a smart TV. So if you wanted to buy the bluetooth transmitter and test it it out with a bluetooth device/speaker you already own (if any) before going any further, you could do that.

I did a similar hookup for my SO's family for different reasons, and set them up with this bluetooth transmitter (it has aptX support too): https://amazon.com/HomeSpot-Wireless-Bluetooth-Transmitter-supported/dp/B00QV77YIC - There are other devices out there like this, this was a relatively cheap option for them and having never used it before, it worked and with no problems. I'll likely pick one up myself for future use too.

I didn't set them up with bluetooth (wireless) headphones but instead bluetooth speakers. But I'd highly recommend looking for bluetooth headphones that support the aptX codec (preferably with Low Latency) so the voices are in sync as much as possible if not perfect. I've seen the difference with and without it as well as it annoys more people without it and it's noticeable.

I'm not sure of your price range for the bluetooth headphones, but here are a few from Amazon that support aptX and SOME (not all) with Low Latency too:

These are good headsets for the price (they always go on sale):
https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Wireless-Bluetooth-Foldable-Headphones/dp/B01A0EAYDI

And this Bluetooth adapter has worked well for me (with tolerable lag) and is “form fitting” for the switch. Although it has some low reviews due to ease of use issues; I had no issue getting it to work:

These are pretty legit for the price. The battery life is unreal and the sound quality is quite nice. I have the Audition myself.

I bought these recently and am pretty happy:

Edit: the ones you linked look like something I'd get when mine break though.

u/zStatykz · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I use Avantree's bluetooth headset with the low latency adapter and it works just fine. It of course won't work if I plug a standard bluetooth USB dongle in there since I think the special adapter uses a direct connection of sorts. Here's a link to them to be specific if anyone is curious:

Hey guys, I've been using my xiaomi hybrids for a while now and wanted to get a pair of over ear headphones.

Budget - ~$70 flexible

Source - Laptop and phone

Requirements for Isolation - I want some isolation, though I'd use them and home

Preferred Type of Headphone - full-sized over ear

Preferred tonal balance - I enjoy my bass, but I'd be fine with a balanced profile

Past headphones - xiaomi hybrids (earbuds), I like them because they have some extra bass. They just sound really nice overall. I'm not
an audiophile so sorry if my description is lacking

Preferred Music - I normally listen to trap or dubstep. I'll also listen to violin and other classical instruments. I know those are two sides of the spectrum. I'd rather have bassy headphones than balanced, only if the treble isn't weakened.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - More detail and bass, but I don't want it overpowering

I've gone through the guide and also found a few headphones on my own. This one has been my favorite.

u/JoinTheBattle · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

The QCY Q11s are a solid pair of bluetooth earbuds for cheap. They support aptX and the ear hooks are nice if you plan to use them to work out.

If you prefer wired earbuds, I've heard good things about the Xiaomi Piston earbuds and I've owned the Klipsch S4As. The S4As sound great, but I've had four pairs of S4s (S4i, S4A, S4i II, and S4A II) and they all broke on me fairly quickly.

If you are looking for full-size headphones, there are of course the usual culprits (Beats, Bose), but for some lesser-known alternatives, the Plantronics BackBeat PROs are very good (but very large) and they just released the BackBeat PRO 2s, which are supposed to be more streamlined (but the design may not be for everyone.) I've also heard very good things about the Avantree Audition Pro and Jabra Move headphones (the Moves are good if you like on-ear headphones.)

About Bluetooth closed-ish headphones under $100:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01A0EAYDI?psc=1&th=1

Are these headphones above good for $80, or have they bad reputation? One of my main concerns is comfort, so, if these headphones are comfortable and have some nice Bluetooth, battery and passable sound, they seem good. Or are the MEE Audio Air Fi Matrix 2 below better?

https://www.amazon.com/MEE-audio-Bluetooth-Wireless-Headphones/dp/B00DOP3NPW#

u/Grafh · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Not sure how keen you are to bluetooth headphones, but I recently got a set of Avantree Audition Pro and I love them. Sound is great and they are comfortable, even after long hours.

u/noeatnosleep · 1 pointr/headphones

Budget - $300USD if needed, prefer to keep it sub 200.
Source - BT
Requirements for Isolation - Not required, but really would like to dip my toes into this someday.
Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes, but I don't care about what I look like, or really even what the headphones look like.
Preferred Type of Headphone - Fully over the ear and comfortable
Preferred tonal balance - Slightly bass-heavy, but not at the death of everything else.
Past headphones - Avantree https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Wireless-Bluetooth-Foldable-Headphones/dp/B01A0EAYDI?th=1 And for my PC, I use a set of Sony MDR7506
Preferred Music - EDM and Spoken Word are what I spend my time listening to. I listen to a lot of podcasts and EDM when not listening to spoken word.

A few side-notes: I also take a lot of calls, and having something that deals with wind and background noise would be nice. My Avantree's were terrible at this.

A longer battery life is a huge QOL thing for me. I'm very mobile and don't like short battery lives.

Headphones I've considered so far: Bose Soundlink II, Senn HD 4.50

Comfort is somewhat of an issue, I often wear headphones for hours a day.

Mic is required.

Second this. I got an aptx headphone last year and happy with it, it’s light, good build and sound quality, and good battery life:

Avantree 40 hr Wireless Bluetooth 4.1 Over-the-Ear Foldable Headphones / Headset with Mic, APTX LOW LATENCY Fast Audio for TV PC Cell Phones, with NFC, Wired mode - Audition Pro [2-Year Warranty] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A0EAYDI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_qHy1AbSKVW3NA

The cool thing is that you can also buy an aptx low latency transmitter and have audio transmitted wirelessly to your headphone from any device (like from your TV, surround system, PC, etc...)

Avantree aptX LOW LATENCY Bluetooth 4.2 Transmitter for TV PC (3.5mm, RCA, Computer USB digital audio, NO OPTICAL) 100ft Range, Dual Link Wireless Audio Adapter for Headphones - Priva III [24M Warranty] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N5KKUR0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_zNy1AbFZQNJFG

This uses aptx low latency technology, so there’s no lips delay when you watch a video.

u/6x9equals42 · 1 pointr/headphones

It is a hitchhiker's guide reference lol. Headphones with support are rare, but Avantree has a pair. For transmitters the leaf is good or if you want 3.5mm input instead of USB Taotronics has one that can be used as transmitter or receiver.

u/maxagun · 1 pointr/headphones

I need new headphones primarily for PC gaming.

The two I'm looking at are:

Avantree Audition Pro
and the
Superlux HD668B.

Any thoughts between the two? How does Avantree Auditoin Pro compare to standard?
