I bought a relatively cheap duvet from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00635VODS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and have been very pleased with it, although it's not the warmest in the winter. And I get to use different duvet covers for the seasons or just to change the look. I'll never buy a basic comforter again.
