As long as this new RAM matches the specifications of your other RAM that you can check that in CPU-Z, it will work fine with your Laptop. Also, you can refer Acer Community for your Modal, there you can find suggestions for RAM upgrade of your particular Modal.

I have the same Laptop with i5 8th gen and I bought this RAM(Crucial) as my in-build is same with same specs and it is working perfectly fine.

So this would be what I want?

I did some research and ideally yes, you want to match the stick that your laptop already has. Mine however came with a ADATA brand RAM which I was not able to find on Amazon so I bought this Crucial one. I just made sure to get the same RAM speed. The one that my laptop came with was 2666, so I bought a 2666 Crucial one, even though laptop works at 2333 (I think?).

Now for the SSD I bought this Crucial MX500 which seems to be generally one of best rated ones; I also had a good experience with a previous WD Blue I owned but I prefer the Crucial cloning tool.

Now this I what I bought for mine (spent ~$80), you might want to do some research on your own to determine what the best price/quality ratio is since prices are always changing and new deals are coming and going. Might be worth checking r/buildapcsales see if you some luck too.

For my 7590 G7, I ordered a Crucial 8 GB Single DDR4 2666 MT/s stick and I've had zero issues.

Hi I wanted to know when with upgrading, with the 8 GB DDR4, 2666 MT/s (to make it 16GB), a usb portable hard drive (I kinda like this as I also use Xbox, it’s good for space on there too) or an 2.5 ssd 1TB?
Can I use any? Is there a limit? Is there any good but for a good price? Because I’ve seen a

For the 8GB DDR4;

And the 2.5 ssd;

Like and the hard drive is a hard drive really 😂

I just need a 2ed idea of it these won’t work or this there one I need? Because it’s a pretty good price and I don’t mind spending £80 for an upgrade 😂

MSI GL63 8SC-059 ; i7-8750H, GTX 1650, 8 GB DDR4, 256 GB NVMe SSD -- US$799.99

Add another 8 GB RAM stick for US$33.99 for 16 GB total and dual-channel.

Edit: Found something I think is better:

Dell G3 17.3" (G3779-5910BLK); i5-8300H, GTX 1060 Max-Q, 8 GB DDR, 128 GB SATA SSD + 1 TB HDD (5400 RPM) -- US$849.99

It's a big boy, though, but the GTX 1060 is more powerful than the MSI's 1650 (yes, even the Max-Q model is). Also, it doesn't look nearly as gamer-y as the MSI.

**

Acer Aspire 5; i7-8565U, GeForce MX250, 12 GB DDR4, 512 GB NVMe SSD -- US$849.99

This laptop doesn't look gamer-y at all but subdued and serious. The downside is the graphics card. You
can* play games, but it's not a gaming GPU.

Honestly any DDR4 2666Mhz sodimm will work. 2666 because that's the fastest the laptop will take. I believe you can get up to 32gb but honestly you won't need more than 16gb.

Proof I ordered: Screenshot

Not sure about GIS but Photoshop can benefit from more RAM especially with large projects. However, do not buy the laptop I linked to just because it has 4GB more RAM. It would be a lot cheaper to simply buy the one with 8GB of RAM and then buy either a 8GB or 16GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM RAM and install it yourself. The laptop has 4GB of RAM soldered into the motherboard which means there is a 4GB stick of RAM in the RAM slot. If you want to upgrade the RAM, then you will need to remove the 4GB stick already installed. Use the laptop as is first before buying RAM and use Performance tab in Task Manager to see how much RAM is being used. If when using GIS software and / or Photoshop it is nearly using 100% RAM, then yeah... buy the 8GB or 16GB RAM stick... typically the more RAM the merrier.

Click following link on how to remove bottom panel of the Acer A515-54 laptop. The video is actual for replacing the hard drive. Pause at 55 seconds into the video. Near the lower left of the laptop is where a RAM stick is installed; it has a vertical sticker with what looks like "CE". It is to the left of the copper heatsink arm that leads to the fan. The RAM stick is held in place by silvery arms; simply pull apart gently to release the RAM. Install the new RAM by lining up the notch in the connection contacts and gently push down; the arms will snap in place. Or just search Youtube for a video on how to remove / install RAM.
