Do you mean inside the case? I use Dynaliner for all the keyboards I've built, and it's great at absorbing some of the noise.
If you want to reduce the noise further, you can try placing o-rings on the keycaps, as this will prevent the hard plastic-on-plastic sound. This has nothing to do with empty space, though.
