If the dimensions work out, a replacement LED panel such as this one (approx. 8 inches square) could be used to replace the missing glass. If you read the reviews there, several mention using "edison pigtails" to run the light as in insert in an existing square recessed light. Then use construction-adhesive to stick the hinged trim up, as the LED panel should have a lifespan such that you won't need to replace it before you move or remodel.

Otherwise, just either buy a new lens with the right dimensions or have a hardware store cut a square of obscure glass to fit, and use [turn bottons] secured in the ceiling with drywall anchors to keep the bezel up in place. It is screened enough behind the cabinet fascia that no-one will notice the extra hardware.

Edit: gluing some rare-earth magnets to the back of the bezel would do an excellent job of holding it against the steel flanges of the recessed fixture.
