Not only does it keep dust/dirt/lint out of your mag, but it more importantly helps the mag stay put. I know it's very unlikely that it will work its way out of a back pocket, but there was a post literally just today about a guy's spare mag sneaking out of his pocket. Better safe than sorry. Cheers!
