I was trying to be funny, unsuccessfully. Keep your eye on equipment exchange of AR15.com also. With patience, you should find some good deals. Might also check out green blob outdoors sights on Amazon. I have a set (they were on sale for 18.99), and they are gtg.

I got these sights and ran them in several 3 gun matches before I got my red dot.

I was impressed with them and they held up great. One thing I did though was filed down the tip of the front sight post to a point with a small flat spot on top. That helped a lot. Otherwise, these are what you want.
I'm not going to claim that these are any good, but I tossed them on a cheap rifle:

They weren't hard to zero, and have held zero for the 200-ish rounds I've shot while using the sights. I probably wouldn't trust them to be reliable after getting knocked around a bit, but they seem okay so far. Fit and finish actually exceeded my expectations.
My logic was they should be good enough to be backup sights for the $80 red dot, and I won't be completely surprised if something breaks. Better than aiming down the picatinny rail, but not much better.
