After owing one for a few years, I'd strongly recommend a Hoover Platinum LiNX. Although you lose out on the DC59's above floor cleaning ability, this machine comes in at about half the price, meaning that you could pick up some kind of battery powered hand vac for those purposes.

What kind of environment will the vacuum be used in?

Seconding the Roomba suggestion. Between that and this cordless stick vac, we handle our 2 cats and 1 dog worth of hair on our hardwood floor.

I'm looking to get a Hoover Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum for my workplace, as we have hardwood floors on one half and concrete on the other, and sweeping never really gets the place clean, no matter what my boss tells me.

Thoughts on it? I was mostly trying to stay away from a corded vacuum, if only because we don't have a lot of accessible outlets at work. But I'm open to being convinced otherwise.

The best budget cordless stick is. More then $50 a filter for a Dyson costs more then $50.
Would recommend thsi.

This vacuum
has been wonderful for my hardwood floors as well as the small area of carpeting I have. Hope this helps.
