Just get an outlet timer like this one
Unfortunately, LEDs with high enough lumen output are expensive.. It's just a fact of life. I would go with T5s to start. But, if you have a pretty small footprint, you could use this this LED light,. I've never used it, but I believe people are relatively happy with it.

Thanks. If it works, I'll post how to do it. It's pretty simple. It's not a lamp heater. It's a heated massager and a lamp timer.
>Century Digital Timer
Hey, question about the timer! I've been looking for two timers for my two tanks while I'm away during Christmas for 2 weeks. I've never used a light timer. If I want the light on, say, from 8am-8pm, do I just set a 12 hour period at 8am, plug the light (turned on) into the timer, and it will run 8am-8pm consistently daily?
I've also been looking at this timer
I had this problem too because I bought a slow cooker without a delay timer. Bought one of these:

Problem solved.
There are a million grow-weed-easy or cheap tutorial on the net and I really recommend reading some to get an idea what you need to do.
A good starting point now a days is a LED grow light as it will be much less trouble and safer than using a bunch of CFL lights which are considered the cheapest but all the reflectors and adapters add up.

This is a decent starting LED light for $80 and will work for 1 big plant or 2 smaller ones. This will grow you about 4 ounces easy if you put some effort in.
Then you need some decent organic soil if you want to go cheap. Do NOT use miracle gro products, cannabis hates it.

That soil is about $16
Other stuff you need will be planters and a light timer.

Now we are at ~$110. This is a good starting point for a very small 1-2 plants grow that could give you 4 ounces if you do your research and put in about 3-4 months of time. You can get 3 grows in a year with that set-up and a small cabinet.
