Yep! I used to do 5 and 10 K runs there in the winter. I invested in a click counter so I could keep track of how many laps I had done - GPS doesn't work well there so you have to go lap counter and a stopwatch

My league does 2 skaters at a time, we're small enough that it usually takes about half a practice. Most phones have lap timers on the clock app, so everyone has a partner and the partner just has to hit the 'lap' button while their partner skates and counts their laps themselves. I usually make sure we have some bumpin' tunes. Everyone else sits on the sidelines and cheers and encourages eachother on.
You can use a lap counter, I find them to be useful and cheap.
My biggest advice is, do laps every practice. Don't worry about doing them in 5 minutes, or doing them as fast as you can. Just do 27 laps, every practice you can. It can make a big difference.
The counters or the dials? For the counters, there are things like this:

But I know that probably not exactly what you want (they count too high). But I thought those different colors might be handy for you. As for dials.. I don't know. I was sort of imaging a smaller, wooden version of the spinner in "Life". You know though, if there were a 10-sided, "top" kind of thing, kind of like a dreidel with 10 sides, maybe that could work (it would have no moving parts and would like nice as wood).
I use those clickers to keep track of my row, and I always finish a row completely before I stop (so no stopping halfway through). I store my knitting patterns in the pocket of my bujo so they are all in the same place.
