I have the Garmin Forerunner 310XT which is hella cheap for a tri watch (like $100-ish now, since it is obsolete, haha) but does not track laps. Even the 910XT is pretty cheap these days since it was replaced by the 920, but there are so many features on these darn things that I am struggling to figure out if it tracks simple laps in a pool (Amazon says it tracks distance and shit like stroke count, but I'm not sure if that's only for open water...? I would assume it does count laps but definitely confirm for yourself!).

If I were you, I would crosspost to /r/triathlon. You're bound to get a better response from someone who is familiar with what their specific watch is capable of.

I will note that, unless you are doing a ton of brick swim-to-bike workouts from the pool (as opposed to from an open water swim), it may simply be easier to buy a cheaper Garmin triathlon watch that doesn't track laps in a pool and then just a cheapo lap counter, which you can get for like $30 - https://www.amazon.com/SportCount-LapCounter-90040-Silver/dp/B0016J9NE8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495339883&sr=8-1&keywords=lap+counter+swim

> Regarding bhakti yoga - are there are any specific chants or prayers you found really useful?

Just the names Rāma(audio)(image that I would recommend) or Śiva(audio)(image that I would suggest) repeated 10,000-15,000 times a day(you can keep count with these). Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa's wife was a great advocate of such practices(she would specify 15-20,000 times a day every day).

A book on spiritual life by a grand-disciple of Sri Ramakrishna has this extract, quoting from what he and his divine wife Ma(Mother) Sarada said.

My league does 2 skaters at a time, we're small enough that it usually takes about half a practice. Most phones have lap timers on the clock app, so everyone has a partner and the partner just has to hit the 'lap' button while their partner skates and counts their laps themselves. I usually make sure we have some bumpin' tunes. Everyone else sits on the sidelines and cheers and encourages eachother on.

You can use a lap counter, I find them to be useful and cheap.

My biggest advice is, do laps every practice. Don't worry about doing them in 5 minutes, or doing them as fast as you can. Just do 27 laps, every practice you can. It can make a big difference.

This is what i use for laps/ lengths. It's great, and there's a few different models available. I've never personally tried a watch for swimming, but somebody mentioned one from Garmin so maybe check that out too. Good luck

It could use a bit better of an explanation. It took me 2 full tries before I understood what I was supposed to do.

My first attempt, I thought "shutter" just meant to start it. After I hit the spacebar everything started, and I was just counting myself thinking I would type in the number at the end.

My second attempt, I tried pressing the space bar like I was taking pictures, so instead of hitting space on every one, I was waiting until there were a few new ones on them on screen at the same time.

What I think would be more intuitive would be something like a number clicker counter being shown on the bottom right corner. Every time the player presses the space bar, it's clicked once with a click sound effect and the player sees the number increment. I think something that small would make the minigame very intuitive.

As for the game itself, where will it lie in the balance between reflexes and simulation on a scale of 1 being Diner Dash and 10 being Restaurant Empire? What will the player spend most of the time doing while playing the game?

old fasion tally on paper(a tick for every word and grouped in fives), but im sure there is an app for that. Maybe one of those counters that adds one after every click like this one could be helpful for some.

u/datguyfromoverdere · 3 pointsr/airsoft

This. Ive hosted a game like this and it works super well. Just be sure to put them at the base of a flag so its obvious where it is.

You can also put a clicker counter at each hard spawn to track respawns:

I agree. I am the Dominant, i don't always need an "excuse" to "punish" her, as long as my partner gives consent. The fact that I want to should be enough, so we have exchanges like this.

"Get your chastity belt, please"
"Why, I didn't do anything, Sir?"
"Because I want you to."
"Okay, fair enough, Sir"

Sometimes she gets bratty in those situations and makes her own situation worse. Of cause she can always revoke consent and flat out refuse to play, if she's not feeling well, without any consequences.

Also this arbitrariness spices things up a little, I figure it would be boring for my sub if I'd become too predictable.

I also have a mechanical counter (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071W3QTBX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_6cvuDbFM5GVXX) to keep track of her misssteps discretely when in public.
She's really good at not having a 0 on this counter, so actually lately I've almost always had a reason.

My company uses these and attaches them together with a carabiner clip that you clip on wherever:

You could also get finger counters like these that can be worn on multiple fingers:

One more thought - on how to keep track of how many records you have played.

I bought a "people counter", or clicker on Amazon. Of course, I selected the advanced audiophile version for about $10.

For every LP that you play, figure about 45 minutes. I especially like the part where they say "no batteries required".

The counters or the dials? For the counters, there are things like this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XPD1YK3/

But I know that probably not exactly what you want (they count too high). But I thought those different colors might be handy for you. As for dials.. I don't know. I was sort of imaging a smaller, wooden version of the spinner in "Life". You know though, if there were a 10-sided, "top" kind of thing, kind of like a dreidel with 10 sides, maybe that could work (it would have no moving parts and would like nice as wood).

u/Noroeste · 14 pointsr/proED

(Don't know how realistic this is, but--) maybe you could get one of these clicker counters. Every comment/remark they make throughout the day, just deadpan stare at them and click, every time you hear "wow again?" hold it in front of their face and click. If they ask what you're doing, tell them you're preparing your case against their workplace harassment.

I can't imagine what their motivation is for hounding you (they honestly sound like bullies, like /u/bir_die said) but you do not have to tolerate it.

u/strongestboner · 1 pointr/Homebrewing

I use one of these to keep count of my kegs. the clicking is more fun

u/in_the_comatorium · 1 pointr/running

Couch to 5K worked for me

Beginning on the third week, it says you can measure by distance, or by time. It's up to you, but I went by distance. How I measured this, was running around an indoor track. I knew each lap was 200m, so I used a golf counter like this one to count laps.

So yeah, the options are pretty much flow sensors (expensive and complicated), by weight (similar issues, and many weight sensors have issues with static weight) or by just simple counting by adding something like these to each tap which is a low tech method, but you can't really count half a pint if you go for smaller pours.

u/Concise_Pirate · 1 pointr/KitchenConfidential

If you have to count a lot of something, there is a gadget for that. Or group them (like, by tens or by how many fit on each shelf) and count the groups. Or the fastest way: count them by weighing the whole lot (in a bin or box if needed, just remember to tare) and then dividing by the average weight!

u/moaningmyrtle15 · 1 pointr/golf

I really like this stroke counter. It's a spring loaded analog one that goes all the way up to 12 strokes. It's the size of a quarter and you're supposed to stick it on your glove.

u/ariscris · 2 pointsr/boardgames

How about a tally counter like this: S.P. Richards Company Tally Counter with Finger Ring, Silver (SPR24100) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0008GOGI8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_Ikrxwb4W4T5KF

I'm guessing something along these lines might be helpful. Have the students click for every bank that goes in and write down the number at the end of each cycle. (sorry for the link not being pretty. Posting on mobile from work).

u/CaptainSnacks · 6 pointsr/aggies

Yep! I used to do 5 and 10 K runs there in the winter. I invested in a click counter so I could keep track of how many laps I had done - GPS doesn't work well there so you have to go lap counter and a stopwatch

u/garrettofdoom · 1 pointr/Swimming

I always have trouble with my mind wandering and can never reliably keep track of where I am in my set so I use a lap counter in the pool. Something similar to this:(http://www.amazon.com/SportCount-Inc-LapCounter-90040-Silver/dp/B0016J9NE8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1452666635&sr=8-2&keywords=lap+counter)

I wear it on my pointer finger and push it right before ever flip turn. At first I had trouble rememebering to push it, but after a session or two it came completely naturally.

Thus far it's been the simplest, cheapest and easiest way i've found to keep track of laps.

u/brad_glasgow · 6 pointsr/triathlon

Same. I got one of these from Amazon. $30 and worth every penny. I'd rather have a decent watch, but those are considerably more than $30.

u/Byrdyth · 2 pointsr/knitting

I have one of these click counters: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007NCK8Y6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Three bucks and it's way more sturdy (and cheaper!) than the counter made for counting rows/stitches.

u/dylrocks95 · 2 pointsr/ShinyPokemon

I use a Pitch Counter. I just click it while the game is restarting.

u/dasdemit · 43 pointsr/whatisthisthing

I actually had one or these, they're by Lynx (Axe in America) for some reason. Here's a UK Amazon link? I don't know if you can get them in US tho: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TALLY-COUNTER-CLICKER-DIGITS-DOORMAN/dp/B002993NRC

You can go up 1111 at a time, but I don't know any with 10, 100 or 1000, sorry.

u/_TheBro_ · 2 pointsr/Swimming

I swim in set of 100m and I also get confused with the number of sets I have done at some point. I think about getting one of these and place it on the side.

u/redhandfilms · 2 pointsr/DIY_tech

For a low tech option, mount one of these click counters under the opening button. Make it click every time the lid is opened.

u/docwhat · 3 pointsr/sysadmin

Get a hand clicky counter.

Next time this person walks by stare them in the eyes.

With no emotion reach for the counter and pick it up. Click it. Put it back down.

Then go back to whatever you’re doing.

u/WeylandTheDwarf · 1 pointr/dndnext

Here is a tally counter that goes both up and down.

Alternatively, have you considered not getting hit? I've not found the HP rewriting too annoying, but I also tend to play either quite high HP characters or cowards who stay as far from danger as possible while contributing.

u/dust_dreamer · 2 pointsr/psychotherapy

(not a clinician. hope this is ok.)

I had a clicker at one point for headache tracking. Every time I had a headache, I'd click it. My only problem was that I'd dissociate and click it multiple times for the same headache.

Also, things like drawing a line for every time I wanted to SH was a good preventative/also kept track for me of how many times that happened.

Printouts: Easily lost or destroyed. Generally awkward to pull out and do.

Notebooks/Journals: Heavy, bulky, half the time I can't read my own handwriting. Also awkward.

Apps: I don't have a smartphone.

Open ended questions/Anything more than one variable at a time: Too complicated and overwhelming. If the answer is repeatedly "I don't know", I feel like I'm failing. So, if I have to pick a word for how I feel, I'm unlikely to do it. If the question is "Do you feel sad?" I'm much more likely to at least try.

u/punkpastel · 1 pointr/knitting

I use those clickers to keep track of my row, and I always finish a row completely before I stop (so no stopping halfway through). I store my knitting patterns in the pocket of my bujo so they are all in the same place.

u/ramstepside83 · 1 pointr/Cardinals

Maybe a chalk board would be better? You can keep up with it through out the season

you could possibly piece something together with three of these and six of these. You would also need a power supply. I think 4 AA batteries would suffice, but I am not sure how long they would last. You could have a master on/off switch for it, as the counter I listed advertise that they retain memory if a power failure occurs.

I'll have to think this one through some more.

u/dogdogduck · 1 pointr/knitting

I have one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Digital-Display-Counter-Counting/dp/B00EHA3JVG

It was super cheap, and it works, but I always worry that it will either die on me in the middle of a project or get advanced while in my project bag, so I never use it.

The counter I do use is one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073R5DPRC

If I need more than one counter, I use BeeCount on my phone.

u/LooRead · 3 pointsr/running

I run on a 160m indoor track at times when the snow piles up here in the northeast and I got so sick of counting the laps that I sprung for a handheld counter device. It's such a simple thing, but it lets my mind wander and focus on the music or podcast or whatever I'm listening to, instead of obsessively repeating the lap count in my head (plus it makes it much more difficult to forget if I just finished lap 49 or have been on lap "49" for three loops in a row because I zoned out)

https://www.amazon.com/SportCount-LapCounter/dp/B0016J9NE8
