Generally, the best keyboards are ones with Cherry MX Mechanical switches.
There are 3 types of switches that people mainly go for.
Red switches are linear switches, that means they don't have a bump. They are don't have a click, but make a large clacking sound. They will not have any feeling at the actuation point (The point where the keyboard recongizes your input). These are generally recongized as better for gaming rather than typing.
Blue keys will have an audible click at the point where the keyboard recongnizes your input. There will also be a slight bump at that point as well. These are generally recongized for being better at typing than gaming.
Brown keys are the middle between red and blue keys. Brown keys will keep the slight bump at the point where the keyboard recongizes your input, but does away with the click sounds of blue keys
Generally, the best keyboards will have genuine cherry mx switches of any type. That should be your starting point. Then you can add things like volume controls, backlighting, etc etc etc. Generally, the keyboard that stuffs the most of these features while keeping cherry mx switches will be your best deal.
All of these will be good gaming keyboards while keeping under your budget:

The Logitech G610 Brown often goes for or under $100 and has white backlighting and dedicated media controls, with MX Brown switches. Enthusiasts will criticize the non standard bottom row, but if you're not changing your keycaps it doesn't matter one bit.
The G810 is RGB, but it has Romer-G switches, which some people like and some people hate; you have to try them to make sure.
They already have a Logitech mouse.
Get a nice IPS monitor and a mech keyboard, that'll give you the most enjoyment for your dollar:

Acer G227HQL 21.5-Inch HD IPS Monitor $99.99
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-G227HQL-Abi-21-5-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B00JB6HCHI/
It's IPS and 21.5" @ 1080P, which gives you a nice, high pixel density.

Logitech G610 Orion Brown Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard $79.99
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CDYB8F6
It's Logitech, so it'll match your mouse, the Cherry MX Brown key switches will be a pleasure to type on and its just a white backlight instead of tacky RGB.

Then get a gaming mat for your keyboard and mouse:

Black Extended Gaming Mouse Mat / Pad - XXL Large $14.99
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014OOWMHQ/
Its big and no branding, so it won't look tacky.

After that, maybe some nice desktop speakers:

M-Audio AV32 | 10-Watt Compact Studio Monitor Speakers $79.99
https://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-10-Watt-Compact-Monitor-Speakers/dp/B00X741TKG/
These will blow away your OontZ Angle.
There is also the Logitech G610 Cherry MX Brown going for $70 + tax.

For $80 you can get a logitech g610 with browns it is less "gamery" than the g710+

Well... I assume you are looking for a full size keyboard.
People here would like to recommend Ducky, and you may get a Ducky One at this price. It's a solid keyboard with standard layout. A standard layout could makes your life easier if you are going to replace keycaps in the future.
If you only focus on famous gaming peripherals brands, my personal recommendation is Logitech G610. It comes with Cherry switch and more importantly, standard layout.
intel orion G610 Cherry Brown are on sale for 99$ on amazon. It's a good deal and a great keyboard.
The white backlight is great and customizable.

Logitech G610
Logitech G610 is what I'm going to buy when I finally ditch my laptop for a desktop. It's pretty standard looking while also having some media keys. If you ever want to change the key caps, go with a different keyboard because the bottom row isn't a standard size so you won't be able to change those. It's not a big deal for most people but it's worth mentioning. I know that DasKeyboard is also fairly normal looking as well but they are more expensive and I'm not sure how good they are as I haven't read any reviews on them.
Lol, thanks. And nah it's a G610
Was considering this yesterday, but I bought the G610 today (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CDYB8F6/).
Should I have got this instead? (First Mech KB for me)
The first generation K70/K95 did have a lot of dying LEDs. This is fixed in the 2nd generation "Lux" edition. However, many here will tell you that due to the non-standard bottom row (the space bar row has a mix of sizes of keys) replacing the keyset will be problematic to impossible.
The most "modest looking" full size with multimedia key is the Logitech Orion G610 which comes in both brown and red edition depending on which Cherry switch you want.
Logitech G610
Logitech G502
The logitech G610 has a big fat scroll wheel on the right side. I wish they'd update the software to let you use that for more than volume. I'd love to scroll thru long documents with it.

I love it! The browns are loud, but I love the feel. Got it for $60 on black friday. It's actually on sale right now too for $75
I've used a G610 Brown for about 2 years now, and it's awesome.

I like that it's not RGB. It's a joy to type on, and goes well with my MX Master

I have always liked Logitech and Corsair keyboards. I've used both and they are both great brands. I'm not a big fan of Razer, and to be honest can't give much input on others. That in mind, the G610 is good, the RGB models are around the same price usually at $80~. Corsair K series boards are good also. I currently have a K95 Platinum, which is a $150 board, but the K70 and K65's are also solid. My K70 was godly until I spilled my drink on it.

Mice is hard since it depends on hand size and how you grip your mouse, but since you said you can palm a basketball I’d say choose a Large mouse.
Keyboard I’d recommend the g610 Orion from Logitech. Sturdy (great build quality) with great features and nothing over the top.
Logitech g610 Orion
Edit: mouse wise I’d recommend the Logitech g pro wireless, the Logitech g403/g703, zowie fk1+
r/mousereview is a good subreddit for this stuff.

How is the MasterKeys S PBT Compared to the G610 Orion that I found for $60 on Amazon
This is my keyboard:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CDYB8F6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It comes with a Logitech program that looks very programmable.

Are you looking for multicolored backlighting? The Logitech G610 Orion looks good but only has white. Otherwise I think the poseidon z rgb is at a good price.
For a keyboard, the least offensive and good-for-most option for keyswitches are Cherry MX Browns.
I recommend the Logitech G610:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CDYB8F6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Fe1dBbKKVVV4X
For mice, the only person whose opinion I trust is Zy (Rocket Jump Ninja) as he has remarkably detailed insight into a ton of popular mice.
Here is his updated list of top 40 mice:
http://www.rocketjumpninja.com/top-40/
If you have normal-sized hands and are a righty, I would recommend the Logitech G403 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KUAMCV4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_rh1dBbA5QCZB7
For large hands, the razer deathadder elite: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXC1QL0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Ri1dBb74YHXAK
For small hands, (or a super tight budget) I recommend the Logitech G203: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M26YUKO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_oj1dBb8512GR8
All of these mice have extremely accurate sensors and are cream of the crop as it stands right now. You likely won't need to ever upgrade unless they break.
$80 for a keyboard and $45 for a mouse may seem like a lot, but I promise you it is absolutely worth it. You can buy cheaper stuff now but I guarantee in a yea or two you'll be wanting an upgrade.
I just ordered the GSKILL KM570 yesterday - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823828007
I've read nothing but positive things about it. Around $60 for a full mx brown keyboard is the cheapest you're going to get from what I've seen the past few days.
The Logitech Orion Brown G610 was briefly $60 on amazon, but now it's back up to $100. It may come back down. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CDYB8F6/ref=nav_ya_signin?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
The Strafe is also another great choice at $70 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012B6X7MI/ref=twister_B01N8XHJUU?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
My impression is there isn't much difference between these keyboards at this price point. Good luck mate.

I'm looking to buy one of the following keyboards, but not sure which one to get. All prices are Canadian dollars, so don't be alarmed if they seem high :)
I missed out on buying a $164.99 Ducky Shine 6 PBT Double Shot Black Keycaps RGB LED - would that have been the best one to buy? Price higher than the others was the only limiting factor.
http://www.ncix.com/detail/ducky-shine-6-cherry-mx-7b-141351.htm
Just throwing these Keyboards into the mix as well, you'll probably immediately disregard them but included them just in case:
If you are going to go for the AT2020, you might be better off with a pair of headphones, this guide is handy for that. Full sized and closed with a neutral tone.
And I personally had problems with Corsair's keyboards. I love my Logitech G610.
The logitech one you're talking about is actually on sale right now for just under $90 https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard-920-007857/dp/B01CDYB8F6
I've also been looking at this one as my first mk.
You can wait until they go on sale. For example, I picked up this model for I think $70, which is still a lot, but in terms of what I get, I think it's a fair value. It's been really really great. Feels good to type on, and it has a decent weight and durability to it. You can get mechanical keyboards for cheaper, if you're willing to evaluate off brands, but I kinda feel secure just buying a brand that I know.
Hi everyone, (TL;DR at the bottom)
First off, I built my first PC when I graduated high school in 2004. I've built around 5 PC's for myself since then, and have always retained the same keyboard. It still works! This is the keyboard.
I recently built a PC for the son of my wife's friend, and was gifted this Corsair K95 RGB.
I want to like it, but I'm finding it near impossible to adjust even after weeks of using it. I do love the responsiveness of a mechanical keyboard, but I don't think this particular one is right for me. I'm just not sure where to go from here.
I work from home and do a fair amount of typing, and I'm also a gamer as much as my time allows. With these red switches (I guess that's the problem?) I find myself barely fat-fingering anything and my screen is filled with all sorts of stuff I didn't intend. I don't like the 18 macro keys to the side. It is distracting and I will never -ever- use them. I feel like the keys are "high"/protruding far from the base of the keyboard.
What I'm hoping to find is a keyboard that feels more "standard" (or old like mine, I guess), but still has the crispness of a mechanical keyboard. This Logitech G610 Orion Brown looks like it would fit the bill a bit better, but pictures are very hard to go off of for something like this.
TL;DR:
I've been using this keyboard for 13 years. I was gifted this Corsair K95 RGB. I'm finding it impossible to adjust, and am looking for something more standard feeling, while still upgrading to a mechanical keyboard. I don't want to accidentally graze a key and have it register.
yeah, I couldn't do that either. And I use the "|" key enough that I'd always be hitting return on a layout like this.
Here's the one I went with, which has a standard layout and MX Browns: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard-920-007857/dp/B01CDYB8F6
I just want good surround sound, I don't use my speakers often and even then, they're only 2.1. But I don't want to buy something that is just good, with electronics putting an extra $100 or so to get something better is worth it. For example, I got the k95 platinum ($200) versus the Logitech 610 because it was better quality, had more features, etc. I know it's probably a bad example but I hope you see what I mean
Edit: LOL the HE500s are a little expensive (I think they're over $500, right?)
logitech g610 in both mxbrowns and mx reds were on sale on amazon, as well as corsair strafe, and razer blackwidow, all for around 80 bucks, all light up. link
https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard-920-007857/dp/B01CDYB8F6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1492703735&sr=1-1&keywords=logitech+g610
I'd recommend something like the Logitech G610, it's a white backlight mechanical keyboard with Play/Pause, Stop, Rewind, and fast forward along with a rather large volume scroller, a mute key, a button to cycle through brightness levels, a "gaming mode"(Which prevents specific keys from working, only the windows key by default)
It comes in either Cherry MX reds or browns, since you type a lot I would suggest the browns, the difference between the two is mostly that when you push a brown down to the point where it sends the information, you get a tactile bump, where as with reds, there is no bump at all.
It's currently priced at 100$ on Amazon.
reds are great for gaming, not so great for typing if you ask me, blues and browns are audible, but they feel a lot better when typing and gaming too, I got this budget one for my cousin when it was on sale on amazon and its great, even if its not cherry mx

or if you really like logitech, they also have a keyboard with browns https://www.amazon.ca/Logitech-Backlit-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B01CDYB8F6/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1501238541&sr=1-2&keywords=mechanical+keyboard+brown

This would be pretty close to the G910, although it has different switches, but its more minimalistic design.
If he wants to take the $80 mark quite literally, the full-sized Logitech G610 is 79.99 and comes with either Cherry MX Brown or Red switches:
https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard-920-007857/dp/B01CDYB8F6
Although it's branded as a gaming keyboard, it wouldn't look out of place in an office setting.
Here's a full-sized Magicforce Gateron Red keyboard for $69.99:
https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-Backlight-Magicforce-Qisan/dp/B01HGI7YN4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1497668858&sr=1-1&keywords=full+size+red+keyboard
There are a few even cheaper full-sized keyboards, but a lot of them come with Outemu blues which may be bothersome to nearby coworkers who mind the high-pitched clicking sound. However, if he wants a decent RGB, full-sized keyboard with hot-swappable switches that comes default with Outemu Blues, he can check out the Z-88:

Ortana VS G610?
I know these ones are gaming keyboards but it has mediakeys and volume key so I'm asking, any of these are good?

o-rings are modules, just search for gateron clears, and then buy some o-rings on amazon.
I'm afraid that you won't find any gateron clears on any of the mainstream gaming keyboards.
You could buy Cherry MX browns, you'd find them quite easily they are in between linear (nicer for gaming) and tactile (nicer for typing) they are the best of both worlds.
A cool keyboard with browns and backlit (gaming at night ...) : the
link to a 100% keyboard from Cooler Master
link to a 100% keyboard from Corsair (Corsair has a bad reputation but don't listen to the r/mkb elitist, they are nice boards)
link to another Corsair boards, cheaper and simpler
finally a board from Logitech that looks like a regular mechanical keyboard without too much things on it
You pretty much exactly described the Logitech G610.
I'm completley torn between the Rosewill RK 9300 BR and Logitech g610. I have never owned a mechanical keyboard before and both are priced at $80. The g610 seems to offer more software and dedicated media keys, but the rk-9300 has a floating key design which I adore, as well as a pseudo-wrist rest. I imagine both perform just fine, but can anyone who owns these keyboards tell me how the build material is? I have quite greasy/oily hands so I am hoping for an easy clean up keyboard. Any input is appreciated.
Logitech G610 Orion Brown - I like everything about it except when you boot your pc up. It does this stupid rainbow thing with all the colors (10 sec of annoyance).
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CDYB8F6?ref=emc_p_m_5_i
In general, I recommend any keyboard with brown switch, because you can flame your team more accurately than red switches.
Personally, I recommend the Logitech G610.
I have not. But as far as gaming keyboards go it doesn't look too bad.
EDIT: Is that $159 USD or CAD? If USD thats entirely too much for what that is. Scratch that thats too much regardless. That same board can be had on Amazon US for $89 and Amazon CA for $142
I'm between that or Logitech's "normal" Orion board with browns.
https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard-920-007857/dp/B01CDYB8F6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1467144796&sr=8-3&keywords=logitech+orion
Though I'm also considering either a 10-keyless or 60% board for better ergonomics at work.

I have this one and think it looks and works well.
Appreciate the response.
I was looking at the Logitech G610 Brown on Amazon, but don't really have too much experience with Brown switches in general. I know that there's more resistance on the switches which is something I need considering I find myself accidentally pressing a button on my CM board at home and end up with "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" in the search bar while idling.xD
Need to spend some more time researching the other brands. I've heard of Outemu and believe I've actually used them on my roommate's reddragon keyboard. Haven't heard of the others, though. Gotta do some browsing on the /r/mechanicalkeyboards wiki.
As much as I like posting on the specific subreddits like /r/monitors, /r/headphones, and /r/mechanicalkeyboards, my experience so far has been that I get help and detailed responses more consistently on /r/buildapc. Usually required to post in the pinned help threads and the questions get buried. I actually have more responses here than on my post on /r/mechanicalkeyboards. :P I do love lurking there, though. Those keyboards are amazing and I want one someday (gotta try one out first and see if I like the feel of the smaller layouts).
Currently using a Max Keyboard Nighthawk X8 with MX Browns. Their new Pro X is mostly the same but has RGB leds. Ducky Shine 5 or Shine 6 are also highly recommended.
Edit: Wanted to add the Logitech G610 to the list.
It's this one:

Honestly the keys are so bad I think I'm going to send it back and get:

It's going to be cheaper to do that than to buy replacement keys for the thing.
Idk though maybe it will just take some getting used to. The sad thing is when I switch out the keycaps it's a fine board. Not the best by any means but nothing wrong with it.
