What year and miles? The owners manual will have a maintenance schedule based on miles.
Regardless of miles, it's customary for me to immediately change all fluids on a used vehicle, and I usually start with the differentials.
Here's a good guide for oil/fluid types to use
Do use conventional oil. I know synthetic is the go to for engine oil, but it's the opposite for our differentials. Dana/Currie even refuses warranties if the owner swapped to synthetic. Use Dino oil!
Invest in Lubelocker both front and rear. I know ~$40 seems like a tough bullet to bite, but you'll appreciate not having to use RTV anymore, and it's reusable.
I go above and beyond on differential fluid schedule. I change once a year, and at least inspect, if not change, if I ford through deep water.
