ok. i see what's going on. what i've got is a freewheel. and i just need a cog. so much clearer.

eh. i got B103 pedals and a charge spoon seat. i'm looking at not spending more than $100 on the handlebar setup and cog. i guess i'd be looking for a good "cheap" brand, since i'm sort of trying out whether or not it even works for me.
my roommate does have a dead bike with a drop bar which i might try, but despite the fact that i gave a bike and parts to him and my other roommates to improve the overall biking experience, he's pretty protective of shit, so i'm not sure i can talk him out of it. (EDIT: DROP BAR ACQUIRED)
EDIT: how about this cog? super cheap, but i'm not blowing money if i find i don't like the fixie thing or the gearing. or should i just go with the shimano around $30?
