If you wanna go natural, but not all the way garlic clove natural, I'd recommend having a container of [boric acid suppositories] (https://www.amazon.com/NutraBlast-Boric-Acid-Vaginal-Suppositories/dp/B07212DK9F/ref=sr_1_2_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1506802713&sr=1- 2&keywords=boric+acid+vaginal) around. They work SO well, especially if you can feel it "coming on" and treat early. Also helps me with general maintenance and makes periods go over faster for me.

ALWAYS PEE AFTER SEX, NO EXCUSES, I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE TIRED OR PEED BEFORE SEX. ALWAYS PEE AFTER SEX, or shower, but peeing is easier.

This will prevent a UTI.

Tips for a healthy vagina (other than peeing after sex)

  • No soap or anything besides water on the vagina.
  • If your vagina is smelly or it's somewhat off, use these to help get your pH levels back to normal (can also be used as a preventative measure if you spent too much time in a wet bathing suit, or if your man finished inside of you. Just a few examples). Go to a gyno if they don't help.
  • Cotton underwear

I have had reoccurring bv for years and it sucks and it's embarrassing and it's hard on your self esteem, but it's usually not your fault or due to a lack of hygiene. I've recently figured out, after reading alot of scientific literature and other women's advice/research on some of the best methods to combat it and it seems to work, maybe not perfectly, but it does.

The Science
-----------------
To combat bv, you have to try and understand why it happens scientifically.
-Bv seems to occur in women due to one or a combination of things like random hormones, excess sugar intake/diabetes prone, unbalanced vaginal ph.
-The best way to tackle bv is a multifaceted approach, aka it takes a few methods at the same time to combat different issues. It takes some time, so patience is key!
-Here's what's happening: the ph of the vag should be naturally acidic because bad bacteria can't survive in acidic environments, only good ones can. Women with bv have fluctuating ph due to hormones so the bad bacteria thrives, causing all the bv symptoms they produce like discharge, the horrible smell, itching and pain.
__

The Goal:
--------------

  1. Kill all the bacteria, good and bad with medical antibiotics for a fresh start. 2. Figure out a way to maintain vaginal acidity. 3. Increase the count of good bacteria in your body. Overtime, this will reduce the "biofilm" created by the bad bacteria, which will help prevent reoccurrance.
    ___

    The Solutions:
    --------------------
  2. You already seem to be doing step 1, using prescription antibiotics (oral/gel Flagyl, Clindamyacin, Metro-gel etc) to wipe out all the bacteria. The thing is doctors/gynecs will keep prescribing antibiotics for bv but that alone isn't a cure, it just gets rid of the problem temporarily. Like 50% of women will get a reoccurrance within the year.
*Here's the plan. First, you gotta take one round of prescription antibiotics for a week. I used Clindamyacin, but use whichever you want.
  3. Next you gotta create an acidic vaginal environment by inserting something like boric acid capsules https://www.amazon.com/NutraBlast-Boric-Acid-Vaginal-Suppositories/dp/B07212DK9F/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=boric+acid+suppositories&qid=1574457461&sprefix=Bor&sr=8-4
or 300 mg vitamin C capsules (pure, without additives). I prefer boric acid because it has a very high success rate between women. (This is as safe and natural as its going to get).
*Directly after that first week of antibiotics, (or you can start during if you're taking oral antibiotics), insert boric acid suppositories vaginally every 2-3 days.
  4. Thirdly, you should try to take oral probiotics containing 50 billions+ good bacteria culture that will help fight the bad bacteria. People suggest inserting or eating yogurt for the same reason, but taking probiotic pills is far more effective. https://www.amazon.com/Primadophilus-Optima-Billion-Natures-Way/dp/B009NTEVWC/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?keywords=optima+womens+probiotics&qid=1574458301&sprefix=Optima+wom&sr=8-6
*So after the first week, while you start inserting boric acid, take the probiotic every day.
  5. Continue taking daily probiotics for 5-6 months.

  6. After 2-3 weeks of boric acid insertions or when you notice your symptoms going away, decrease the insertions to 1-2 times a week. Then gradually decrease it to a few times a month each for around 6 months.
  • Most of the stuff I listed that I used might be expensive to you, feel free to shop around a little and do your own research, although it's still cheaper than constant doctors visits 🙄 and prescriptions.
  • Things like periods and unprotected intercourse (certain lubes, semen) can trigger reoccurrance due to outside bacteria coming into contact or messing with the ph, so it's recommended to insert boric acid/ vitamin C right after periods end or sex as a precaution. Also some people say it helps to have healthier diets and reduce sugar intake as sugar feeds bad bacteria and yeast. I love sugar so this is hard for me, but I heard it helps sustain. Lastly, I'm sure you've heard all the basic hygiene things before like wear clean cotton underwear and no using scented soaps in that area.
-For alot of women, simply just taking the boric acids seems enough to stop bv

I know this was a lot to read but if you need more in depth instructions, please feel free to ask. I can also definitely link other, more detailed posts by other redditors that helped me. Best of luck!!

I did! I developed a burning sensation and itching after having sex with a new partner and knew it was a yeast infection. Used boric acid suppositories for 5 days and everything was clear! Immediately after using the first boric acid suppository, I felt relief. These are the ones I use: https://smile.amazon.com/NutraBlast-Boric-Acid-Vaginal-Suppositories/dp/B07212DK9F/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=Boric+Acid&qid=1563813990&s=gateway&sr=8-5

I have the bottle around just in case bv or a yeast infection strikes! It has been much more economical than going to the obgyn and/or monistat.

Yep! I use it once every few weeks. I bought it on Amazon (although I’m sure you can find it in the drug store). Here’s the link in case you want to read some of the reviews:
