nearly impossible. Just get a big mosquito net that hangs from the ceiling. It looks elegant and keeps those fuckers off of you. Also, they're easy to kill from inside the net because they just press up against it all night trying to suck your blood. Fold the net back over them and smoosh away.

I would get to a dollar store or some such place and see what decorative items you can find - candles, little knick-knacks, cheap artwork on canvas to hang on your walls. Most of the stores around me have surprisingly cute things!

For privacy in the bedroom, you might be able to rig up a privacy curtain or get a [mosquito net canopy] (http://www.amazon.com/OctoRose-Round-Canopy-Netting-Mosquito/dp/B00J2AHDO0/ref=sr_1_5?s=bedbath&ie=UTF8&qid=1450702710&sr=1-5&keywords=canopy) to block off the space around your bed a bit more. You could also look keep an eye out for privacy screens at thrift stores and yard sales, or, if you're into DIY, look into [making one] (http://inmyownstyle.com/2012/07/diy-how-to-make-a-decorative-folding-screen.html).

Are your beds just three in a row, or do you have them tucked into corners? If you can rearrange them so that you all have a small bit of the room, it might help.

For the living room, if you put a mirror opposite a window, it makes the space feel bigger and reflects light to make it brighter. Get some cheapy fake flowers and little side-table for punches of color!

Be sure to check Craigslist or Kijiji or your local equivalent for free items - you can find some really neat stuff from people who are moving and don't have room for something.
