I just today took delivery on this headunit for my 2012 and it is very nice and under 300 shipped.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017LKVGBS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For 300 you can get the head unit, install kit and wiring shipped to your door.

This is the head unit and camera I bought:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017LKVGBS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005Q65ZIK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

With your method, did you have to add more wire for the camera power source to reach the reverse light near passenger footwell?

Thanks, so if I want the a/c controls I need the Rr.

Also, you say a compatible radio. I noticed that the radios for this kit have to be idatalink compatible any way of knowing if this (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B017LKVGBS/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1479820475&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=pioneer+touchscreen) or this (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B017LKVEBA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479820527&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=pioneer+touchscreen&dpPl=1&dpID=51Y00cLns2L&ref=plSrch) is compatible. Really not looking for something with all the gauges and tire pressure and things. Just looking for a nice looking unit for listening to music with Bluetooth and being able to install subs.

Ps thanks for recommending another kit. I kinda have my eye set in this one though.

Hey, my wife has this exact car, with that exact mileage! Congrats! Did you buy it from a private party or a dealer? What did you pay for it?

  • First things first, learn about your car.
  • Next, take it to a mechanic and make sure everything is okay. At 60K miles, that car needs a major service. It's not very expensive if you don't end up needing new tires. Dealer quoted us $880. I took ours to a local mechanic and it cost ~$500. Got the tires rotated for free at Costco.
  • Check if you have any open recalls: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls
  • Get a car wash and wax to protect the paint from the elements.

    Mods:

  • We got a class III 2" towing hitch put on the car. That gets used all the time. Got it done at U-haul I think. It's been forever.
  • We've tried many different bluetooth options for phone connectivity but they've all been shit. Thinking of switching out the media player for something like this Pioneer system.
  • I haven't done this yet, but I'm looking into replacing the lights with LEDs all over the place in both cars. Looking at Diode Dynamics for this.
  • Got a roof basket.

If your phone has MHL you could mirror your screen to any touchscreen with an HDMI on the back. I know the new Samsung S7 and Nexus 6 don't have this, so it's a toss up whether your phone has it or not.

Otherwise I just recommend saving up an extra $250 for the 4200nex, considering it's basically the same price as it's older model 4100nex. And you'll be getting everything you're asking for.

If your phone has MHL support or you want something now and is in your price range, the x4800bs does the same job just without android auto.
