I was talking about the dumbbells, but bowflex products are not that good overall IMO.

For benches, the important thing is to check the total weight capacity they have. A lot of benches you’ll see only have 300-600lb total capacity (your weight + dumbbells/etc) and that is very limiting especially if you decide you want to do powerlifting in the future.

I built myself a powerlifting homegym so I have a Repfitness bench which incredibly sturdy at 1000lb capacity rating and $219.

If that is too pricey, I would recommend something like Fitness Reality with an 800lb total capacity at $99 prime. The guy who owns that is a redditor who posts at /r/homegym I recommend going there to ask as well.

I'm restricted to anything that ships amazon prime because i'm in alaska and freight is ridiculous. I think i may end up going with this one, i think i'm actually fine spending the extra 100 to not have to spend more down the line if i do decide i want adjustable

I can only speak for the one I have, which is great. But saying that the amazon reviews are brutal seems like a poor generalization considering 10/14 are really good reviews.

Inconsistent? yeah, maybe. Mixed? Yeah, okay. Are there some that are brutal? Yeah. But if you were going to make a generalization about the reviews as a whole, it would make more sense to say that they're good than to say that they're brutal. "Mostly good with a few bad reviews" would be the most accurate probably.

They've clearly shipped some that had issues. But the reviews i've seen on this sub, on Amazon, etc., and my own experience mostly suggest that it's a really solid bench. There is a slight change you may get one that has an issue it seems.

Remember, you are much more likely to hear from people who have an issue than those who do not. Search for that bench on this sub and you will find many positive comments.
