For my carry-on luggage I use the Nomatic Travel Pack packed with about 4-5 sets of clothes.
And have an empty Swiss Gear sling backpack https://www.swissgear.com/travel-accessories/small-bags/swissgear-2613-heather-monosling-gray-heather-black in the laptop compartment of the travel pack. I use the sling bag as a daypack when I'm at my travel destination and its great. The whole time I front carried the bag and it held all my important items so I didn't have to put anything in my pants pockets.
