Description:
A clean, black Seiko 5 with red seconds hand. This one came with a crappy bracelet, but I have a brown leather band arriving soon. Right now it's on a Nato band. It's a perfect mix of casual and dressy without any flash or pretense. As soon as I put it on a leather band it will be my standard work watch. [Here's an internet picture with brown leather] (http://uhrforum.de/attachments/41232d1250715406-seiko-snk795k1-kopy-kam-ich-sah-die-uhr-siegte-dsc_0099.jpg). This particular watch averages +4 seconds per day! I think it looks nice with the old Canonet rangefinder in the photo above :)
I have nothing to say, other than that you should buy it from Amazon because it's cheaper.
Today, I'm wearing a Seiko SNK795 ($69 on Amazon).
edit: updated to non-mobile link
On the cheapest end, there's watches from Timex and Skagen which list for considerably less than many MVMT's and (in my opinion) look way more professional.
If you want to step up to an automatic (mechanical) watch, then there's this Orient or this Seiko which come with high quality movements for the price.
Nope their are cheaper Seiko 5s

There are more SNKs than you probably saw. An SNK795 and a NATO, leather and canvas for multiple looks, and you're still under budget.
My Seiko 5 on a Hadley-Roma honey oil-tan leather strap. This is my first automatic and I've had it for about 4 months. No complaints so far.
Watch (Amazon)
Strap (Amazon)
For an automatic watch near the bottom of your price range, the Seiko Snk795 looks very similar. You just need to slap on a brown leather strap
Here's a link to the (0-$250) buying guide if you haven't already perused it:

If you want a mechanical watch at that price, your best bet from my (admittedly limited) research would be a Seiko 5. Here's three of varying colors that fit your requests:
http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNK795-Automatic-Stainless-Bracelet/dp/B0058VJWTQ/ref=sr_1_7?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1419273671&sr=1-7&keywords=seiko+5
http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNK793-Stainless-Steel-Automatic/dp/B002SSUQF6/ref=sr_1_8?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1419273671&sr=1-8&keywords=seiko+5
http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNKK65-Automatic-Stainless-Steel-Bracelet/dp/B004JOBXAY/ref=sr_1_14?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1419273671&sr=1-14&keywords=seiko+5
If you just put in "Seiko 5" in the Amazon Search bar you should have more options than you think.
Some recommendations by Seiko, who I always recommend for a good cheap watch, and as for the strap, easy to replace with a nice leather band, metal isn't as heavy as you think it is either.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EQS1JW/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_qixYBbVB15E40
There's also many nice timex ones for cheap if you wanna go quartz
Lmk what you end up with.
The SARB033 is very much worth the price IMO. It has a sapphire crystal and uses Seiko's 6R15 movement, based on the venerable 7S26, but has hand-winding and hacking. Fit and finish should also be superior to Seiko 5s, but YMMV depending on the Seiko 5 model.
If saving for another month is out of the question or you just absolutely must have a watch within your target budget right now, there are a few Seiko 5 alternatives. Note that the 5s all have day/date complications as opposed to the date only on the SARB033.
There's the SNK795, which shares the same design as the SNK793 you posted, just in black with a red seconds hand. It's about $100-110 depending on seller.
This SNK605 comes a bit closer in terms of the design of the hands, but is still a far cry from the SARB033. The dial is textured instead of flat black and Amazon seems to have some discrepancy over whether the dial is dark brown or black. Jomashop's picture shows a black textured dial and the price is much lower than on Amazon so I would go with them if you pick this model.
My last suggestion before I have to run is the SNKK71. It has a refined look reminiscent of the SARB033 while keeping it's own identity. Again, priced lower on Jomashop than Amazon, but not by much.
The Orient Bambino is another watch to consider. ~$130-200 depending on who you get it from. The ER24004B version is the one with the tapered hands, but may be slightly more difficult to find now.
For reference, here's Watch Sleuth's Seiko 5 Finder. It's pretty nice for comparing the different Seiko 5 models and maybe you'll find something you like. FWIW, I would personally save up for the SARB033 instead of settling or a Seiko 5 if that's what you really have your eyes set on style-wise. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with any Seiko 5 IMO.
Here are two suggestions, both a bit above your budget but still worth considering. Seiko is a reputable brand, but obviously there are other options.
The problem is that every other Seiko 5 in your price range had a metal strap - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0058VJWTQ this would be ideal otherwise i think
I'm taking your requirement for it to last at hand so if I can't find an automatic, what about solar powered like https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000EQS1D8 or https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0043ZXIY8

You can get decent Seiko 5s on Amazon for a little over $100, usually $110 - $120 including shipping. You should go to stores (most shops carry Seiko) and see what size face suits your hand (38 - 40mm for most guys usually).
Seiko 5 SNK795 (Black face, 37mm) is about $110 including shipping. Check out Nomad Watch Works if you want to buy watch straps!
The Seiko5 SNK line are all 37mm and about 7mm thick, which checks both of your boxes. The SNK comes in blue, black (linked below) and white.
37mm Seiko5
It's good little starter watch. Not quite as minimal as the Orient you have linked, but damn close.
The blue or white might be more unisex than the black.
That looks like the
Seiko 5 SNK795very solid automatic watch. Can't go wrong with an automatic seiko on a nato! Great carryThese are all very cheap Chinese watches. I don’t have to see them up close to tell you that nothing there is genuine. Instead of wasting $100 on this you could buy a Seiko 5 like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Seiko-Japanese-Automatic-Stainless-Casual/dp/B0041LG08U/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?keywords=seiko+5&qid=1567199388&s=gateway&sr=8-15
Or this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNK795-Automatic-Stainless-Steel/dp/B0058VJWTQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?keywords=seiko+5&qid=1567199433&s=gateway&sr=8-8
Either will last a very long time and will be much better quality than anything in that lot.
Seiko SNK795
Or honestly any other Seiko 5 watch. it's pretty much the go-to automatic on a budget.
I've been lurking here for a few days because I'm looking to acquire my first automatic watch and I think I'm ready to buy SNK795 however I don't like metal strap so I was wondering if something like this would suit this watch: link
I really don't want to invest in a cheap leather strap, but I may look for a good one later.
EDIT: format
Watch geeks will always recommend Seikos to start of with.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004JY0KP8/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1522451046&sr=8-16&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=seiko
I’d recommend something like this, or if you would want an automatic movement I’d go with a Seiko 5.
Something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0058VJWTQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1522451128&sr=8-9&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=seiko+5&dpPl=1&dpID=41TL1wEIF4L&ref=plSrch
There are plenty of great automatics under $100.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0058VJWTQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?qid=1416108522&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 and the other Seiko 5s come to mind.
If you're only looking at field watch seiko 5s you're not looking hard enough
SNK789, for example
White is a wee bit formal though, and also maybe hard to go with other outfits.
How about black?
Hey, maybe you're feeling silly?
And it's not only the watch that determines the style of the set. Maybe you should think about perlons or bracelets for casual, or leather?
I'm just starting a watch collection (I've been meaning to since last summer so it's not as impulsive as one would think) and I'm hoping to buy a few watches around the $200~ price range.

Currently own:

Looking to buy (want to get as much variety and total budget around $600):

Among those watches (or any other suggestions you might have), which ones should I look to buy? Also if there are any Youtubers/reviewers I should follow to be in the know, that'd be great also!
Thinking about something mildly similar to the style of the Bambino, perhaps you could get a Seiko SNK795 (38mm) at $68.99 (according to Amazon), then invest in a leather strap. You could get a really nice one like this 19mm Hadley Roma and still remain well under $200, maybe even well under $200. I think it looks great, and the Seiko 5 series is known to be good and reliable.
If you don't mind automatics you can check out the Seiko 5 SNKs like this or this. They're both 37mm.
Or there's a similar looking solar Seiko that's the same size.
Sure here are a few.

I am looking to upgrade my own collection, so I need these sold or traded! Trades can be anything, currently looking for a diver (seiko, orient, Christopher ward, steinhart) as well as any seiko sarb's (I will add $ accordingly).

I really like this Citizen: https://www.amazon.com/Citizen-Eco-Drive-AW1430-86E-Sport-Watch/dp/B00UMD8FCA it's a little on the larger side though, at 43mm.
Same size for this one: http://m.kohls.com/product/prd-2458135/citizen-eco-drive-mens-sport-stainless-steel-watch-aw0050-82e.jsp
I don't know why I didn't see it before, but this Seiko 5 would be a nice alternative to the SARB: https://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNK795-Automatic-Stainless-Steel/dp/B0058VJWTQ
Or this: https://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNKL45-Stainless-Steel-Automatic/dp/B00EVPMFUS
Hope that helps!
Seiko 5 series, a classic and it's mechanical. Canvas or Steel
https://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNK795-Automatic-Stainless-Steel/dp/B0058VJWTQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486243161&sr=8-1&keywords=seiko+snk795
Seiko Snk795 is a watch that's been on my wish list for a while. Minimalistic dial, not too large, and comes in under budget, which will allow you to buy some straps
I know there's the kind of "main 5" styles of watch: dive, dress, pilot, field and race. Obviously not every style fits into one of the 5, but I've noticed a lot of watches in the style of the Orient Stingray or Seiko 5 SNK795. I wouldn't think of them as dress watches, but that seems to be the closest thing. Is there a name for this style?
Looking to buy my second watch.
I am leaning towards these three options.
https://www.amazon.ca/Seiko-SNK795-Automatic-Stainless-Bracelet/dp/B0058VJWTQ
https://www.amazon.ca/Orient-Bambino-Japanese-Automatic-Stainless/dp/B071WW7SLZ
And the Orient Symphony on the massdrop website.
I already have a Red Wing X Timex Waterbury in white/beige leather strap.
This next watch I hope can be paired with a suit.
Thanks for your recommendations guys.
