SteelSeries Siberia 150. They aren't new and rather cheap price but do not let that fool you. These are the ones I use in CSGO and you know how important sound is in that game. Mic works perfectly, isn't in the way and a pretty light weight headset for sure.

If you're building, budget in a set of USB headphones/mic(I have one of these since my last set just broke https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Siberia-Headset-Illumination-Headphone/dp/B016YGMJ34 Note they may be cheaper at walmart in the store). I've been through a handful over the years.
You can also use standard headphones bc there should be at least 1 3.5mm headphone jack on the board. I dont think I've ever seen a motherboard with out a 3.5mm jack in years. 99% of enthusiast boards have sound cards built in with at least an 3.5 mic and stereo. Some have 5.1 or 7.1 analog as well.
Thanks for all the input, and I'm sorry to hear to had problems with your Logitech headset. I'd love to take you up on your recommendation as Steelseries generally makes exceptional hardware, but my budget is really tight. Also thank you for the offer of the discount. I think I'll go for the 7.1 G430 since it's the same price, and I'll look into whether the surround sound implementation worsens the stereo sound compared to the G230. Thanks again!
Edit: I've done some more browsing. Since you took time time to help me, and I'm sorry to bug you some more, I wanted your opinion on these two STEELSERIES headsets I'm looking at in the same price range as the Logitechs:

First and foremost, are they compatible with Switch and PC? I'm guessing so since they use the same jacks (afaik). Would you recommend either of those over the Logitech?
$50 AudioTechnica I believe you need an adapter for these though
I’ll keep looking for a decent headset without a mic
Edit:
$50 SteelSeries
