Here's how you do it. Don't. Honestly, it's not worth potentially damaging the walls, as University Housing regulations usually have explicit rules about these things. Some even go as far as to say how you can affix posters and such.

Look into something like this or this if you're looking for something that won't take up space. Even though both can handle two bikes, you could always use the top rack and utilize the space below, or allow your roommate to use it as well.

You'll save yourself the time, potential repairs, possible fines, and be able to take this with you when you move into an apartment.

What about somthing like this the wife and I use it in our apt. Takes up zero space and no holes!

Those are cool, I really like the look of them.
But I went with these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002BLMIQ/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Mainly because 1) They don't require any screws or drilling into the wall. As a renter who wants his security back, I like to keep holes to a minimum. 2) Like the the Cycloc, they keep the bikes parallel to the wall rather than perpendicular. This makes getting down that hall much easier. 3) They were relatively inexpensive.

I normally like Ikea hacks for several reasons, one of the most prominent being savings/value.
I use this rack and it's been great so far, and fantastically inexpensive.
