Vice President Joe Biden has a reputation for speaking his mind. He's had so many gaffes in office (just google: joe biden gaffe) and there's been more than a few times he's just straight up cursed in front of the media, which is unusual for a politician nowadays. People actually love him for this because it makes him seem like a more down to earth real guy who somehow ended up vice president.
The Onion capitalized on this image of him by fictionalizing him as an old guy always getting into young-guy movie-type comedic situations and doing unexpected wild things. Believe it or not it's been a successful parody for The Onion and they have lots of these stories. Joe Biden and the White House administration have also reacted well to the parody but insist that's not his real personality.
This one has always been one of my favorites.
The parodies were successful enough that The Onion released a "autobiography" of their 'Diamond' Joe Biden character. "He" has also done an AMA on reddit.
