Depends what you're recording from/playing to but any 3.5mm cable will do either in or out - these are ok, I have some of them:

Also I like to record via the headphone socket (rarely) on my Samsung S7 so use TRRS input to do this so for that you'd need something like these:

I do carry a very short (around 10cm) 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable around with my KO so I can sample from my phone anytime/anywhere - insta-fun right there.
I'm a complete noob so please bear with me. The cable I bought earlier was a 3.5 mm aux with 3 rings on it

But that isn't the right size for the jack in the headphone. The one you've suggested has 2 rings. Am I missing something?
It's hard to recommend a specific cable because all headphones have different size plugs and stuff, but you need a 4 pole aux cable for the headphones then a 4 pole female to dual male to split the audio and the mic signal.
4 pole will have 4 gold sections and 3 dividing lines: 1 for ground, 2 for left and right channel, and one more for the mic.

As for the splitter, something like this would work to split the single 4 pole into 2.
Should be able to use any TRRS 3.5mm cable like this one in combination with a splitter like this one
