> what are they called?
you're probably referring to curls on an incline bench or an upright bench.
> how important is lowering the weight all the way down?
getting full ROM for an exercise like curls is a worthwhile endeavor.
I've been wondering the same about pulldowns since I started looking at these units (whether Valor or otherwise). The consensus seems to be that you can pull a bench up to it and do just fine, but at a certain weight it will be hard to keep yourself braced to the bench, because you're lacking the footholds a dedicated lat pulldown machine would have. My potential solution (assuming this becomes a problem) is to pick up a utility bench or a cheap FID bench with footholds and cut the back down a little. I'm not thrilled with either of these options.
If somebody who has used one of these units could share their experience with lat pulldowns, I'd appreciate it.
