hate to say it, as you are thinkin 'great, another thing to buy... but get the external charger, the usb circuitry is not robust enough in many folks eyes in most of these handheld mods. they are easy to snag on amazon, and worth the piece of mind that the battery will stop being charged when it reaches optimal capacity.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m still using a XTAR VP2, that I picked up 4 years ago. It dose 0.25, 0.50, and 1 amp per cell charging.
This is the review sold me on the charger.
Illumn.com is one of the most trusted battery vendors. The VTC4 are sold by LightningVapes.com I can't guarantee if they're authentic or not.
I believe Illumn has coupon code 'ispower' or 'ISPOWER' or something like that for 10% off.
I'd recommend the XTar VP2 charger. I have the VP1 and I love it. You can select charging rate from 0.25A, 0.5A, and 1A and it's got an LCD screen that shows the battery's current charge level.
If that's out of your price range, then just grab a Nitecore Intellicharger i2 for around $15
