The Zephyr monitor has Bluetooth, it probably can connect to a program that displays your heart rate on screen.

I think it uses a Bluethooth hear-rate monitor
I got you bro. I've got the same one. Cardia is the free app. http://www.altairgarden.it/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=36:cardia&catid=2:uncategorised&Itemid=101 And here is the heart rate monitor. https://www.amazon.com/Zephyr-HxM-BT-Wireless-Sensor/dp/B002PL33AQ
The only accurate way is a chest strap and connected device. You might be able to find a cheast strap that can just connet to your phone ?
I use a Suunto Ambit 3 Vertical with a chest strap for cycling. Works a treat, uses BT to the watch but not sure how much they are in the U.S. It has stuff you might not need that you will be paying for eg GPS etc
The ones on your wrist are not very accurate unfortunately.
Edit: something like this should work ?

I use Endomondo and a bluetooth heartrate monitor for avg heart rate for crossfit, biking, running and tennis. The fitbit flex for steps and sleeping, The aria scale for weight and bf%. Then myfitnesspal for calories. All of this is synced into my fitbit dashboard. I see how all the activities and calories effect my weight loss .

I use it with Endomondo.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it so I'm also looking for a good heart rate monitor to use with my phone. Currently leaning towards:

I seem to be an evangelist for RideWithGPS lately... I love the program and use it in combination with my Zephyr HxM and my Wahoo SC Blue Cadence/Speed sensor . The RideWithGPS screen can be configured to show you the data you want to know - such as cadence, avg cadence, speed, heart rate, etc.
I can generally get a good 4 to 5 hours of ride data using my phone, with the screen mostly turned off. About 3 hours if I am checking everything continuously.
Hey if you want send me an email at Plaschkej@gmail
A while back (4-5 years) I was working on a zephyr hrm app for mobile phones
I got on their affiliate program and got an agreement from apple to get their Bluetooth api
Plans just petered our as I couldn’t convince friends to help
I wanted it mostly for cycling as it’s not practical to use an arm strap especially now with iwatch and fit bit

I’ve been a software developer for 30 years mostly embedded wireless communications
I had the same goals do something on the side
So I would definitely be interested in helping
What are you recording your strava information with?
Assuming it's a Samsung phone, you can use this and it will link with your phone and integrate that data into your Strava rides.
I've been considering this myself, but can't quite bring myself to spend the money.
