I agree that baby play mats are great, and you can never have too many books. Lift the flap books are especially good for babies under 1.

For a bouncer/play saucer I really liked the Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo. It is a bit pricey, but my daughter looooved it. Hundreds of hours of entertainment, and a good place to leave the baby while you use the bathroom or whatever. We also got a hand me down non-bouncing play saucer and she didn't like it nearly as much.

For a noise machine I really liked the Munchkin Nursery Projector and Sound System. It is reasonably cheap ($20), it shows a soothing slowly moving projected image, it plays a good variety of sounds, and it is voice activated so you can set it to turn on if your baby wakes up. You can also use just the white noise on a timer with the other features off, so it is like a white noise machine with some good bonuses.

Since it sounds like you walk a lot, you also might think about getting a baby carrier that will be good for when your daughter gets bigger and heavier. I have found the Ergo really comfortable, and you can keep using it up to 45 lbs. My daughter is 27 lbs and I am 5 months pregnant and it is still comfortable. (I only used the moby a little bit, but it seemed better suited for smaller babies. I might be wrong about that.)

As far as smaller toys go, my daughter's all time favorites were the Kids Preferred Amazing Baby Blanket Teether Bear and the Nuby Bug A Loop.

My daughter has ALWAYS been obsessed with putting things in her mouth (fingers, pacifiers, cat food, chair legs--you name it!). As she got older, I noticed that she REALLY liked to suck on the little satin-y tags they put on stuffed animals/bibs/clothes. I had seen taggie blankets before at Buy Buy Baby, so I got on Amazon and bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BX7N1AO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

We started introducing her blanket at quiet/sleep times when she was around 5.5 months old. I would just hold it between us and sometimes encourage her to suck on the tags or put it near her face.

She always liked the blanket, but it definitely has taken some time for her to attach to it. I do feel like stuffing it down my shirt so that it smells like me has made a difference. She seems to settle quicker and cuddle more with it when it has my scent.

I think it's definitely not too early to introduce an item during bedtime/feeding times even if she is not sleeping with it yet. You can still teach her to associate a certain item with mom, warmth, and sleepiness even if she's not taking it to the crib with her yet. :) Also, as far as the age thing goes, I think it depends on your baby and your comfort level. My daughter has always been really strong/mobile and I think she would have been OK with a lovie at 3.5-4 months. But...I am super paranoid and I knew I'd kill myself looking at the monitor every 2 seconds, so we waited a bit longer. Good luck!!

Someone gifted my son a blanket that I liked so much I read the tab and searched out another one. Lambs & Ivy is the brand, here is a link to a random one on amazon.

Lambs & Ivy Baby Love Minky Blanket - Pink/White with Gold Love Heart https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPVPN8X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_27G5CbN3101RA

They are his favorite blankets. My son is animal obsessed and has a zebra and elephant one. He specifically requests them by name.

I think they are the perfect size and super comfy. We also have a “daycare” blanket for naps. I recommend if you are able to have 2. I can’t tell you how many times the blanket is forgotten at the end of the week to bring home and wash. It is nice to be able to just swap them out when that happens.

Edit: here is another link because it is so cute, sorry I never get to shop for girls 😂

My son has this Owl Blankie and it's really soft and perfect for carrying around!

When my guy was one, he loved nursery rhymes and the book Nursery Rhyme Comics was (and is still) his absolute favorite. It has awesome interpretations of the classic nursery rhymes by great illustrators/comics artists like Mike Mignola, Jules Feiffer, Kate Beaton, Scott Campbell, and more.

I'm seconding all the Ferber suggestions, but we also gave our boy a little blankie/lovey to play with and chew on while he sleeps. I was super nervous to do so (nothing allowed in the crib!!) but I ended up finding these tiny little completely breathable muslin squares, and the baby took to them so well! I started giving him one to sleep with at about 4 months, and we've had zero issues. It gives him something to do with his hands, and something to chew on for comfort. He's old enough now to just find his paci and pop it back in his mouth, but when he was younger these blankets helped because they were so easy for him to grab. Now he just plays with them and waves them in the air until he puts himself to sleep. It's adorable!

Amazon as well! There is also a matching blanket we put on our registry- Kids N' Such Minky Baby Blanket 30" x 40" - White Floral - Soft Swaddle Blanket for Newborns and Toddlers - Best for Girl Crib Bedding, Nursery, and Security - Plush Double Layer Fleece Fabric https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0743JHB4B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7vKXCbBXJFC8Q

No pillows or big blankets until 1 year, but my DD sleeps with this thin little security blanket that she LOVES! It's super breathable so even if it's bunched up by her face she can still breathe. She loves to hold on to it and cuddle with it and rub against her face, etc. Can't recommend enough.

u/The_OG_OG · 5 pointsr/beyondthebump

We have this taggie. It's about the size of a regular washcloth. It's been my kid's go-to sleep thing for like 2 years now. It was small enough that we felt comfortable letting him have it in his crib when he was 8ish months or so (obv, do what you are comfortable with!). He still loves it and sleeps with it at 2.5!

Theres tinker blankets...fuzzy and crunchy and zippers and buttons and they really enjoy them. They see primary colours best. And music is key to linking them to their past. It's the last to go. :)

u/YesImRed · 2 pointsr/breastfeeding

Regarding the breathing- is your baby's head bent back slightly? Really getting the hang of the deep latch technique helped us a ton.
Here's a link http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=7FJuBn2bgNk&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D7FJuBn2bgNk
Also, do you use some type of comfort object? I've been draping a "lovie" across my guy's face and arms for a while now and he began to grab and sweep while nursing. It doubles as a transitional object too so, when my guy falls asleep I place him and his bunny in the crib and he snuggles up with it like it's my boob (I slept with it for a couple of nights before I have it to him). I think this works better for us, since it has boob shape, rather than a regular blankie. You mentioned getting hot, I like this lovie since it's cotton. We also have a synthetic lovie and it makes my guy sweat when he finds it in his sleep.
Here's our lovie http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0034J2J08

You can get a an alarm that tells her when she can get out of bed.
Stoplight Sleep Enhancing Alarm Clock for Kids, Red and Blue Sports Car https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TKLN46/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gEWxDb93HJN7K

I've read someone mention a ticket system where she gets one time to get out of bed.

There's weighted blankets for children that seem to help. I'm thinking of getting one for my 3 year old as he'll wake if he realizes I'm not cuddling with him.
Weighted Blanket for Toddler 3 lb 36x48 Cotton & Minky Premium Kids Heavy Blanket with Glass Beads https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PM3HBWT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_UFWxDb8YS6P8Q
They're a little pricey though.
Best of luck!

make me a cake

the weirdest homemade thing ive ever gotten was a few years ago from my brother. its not so much made from scratch but it was still made by hand. anyway my brother really really loves legos and specifically these guys. so it was around my 18th birthday and he just comes up to me, doesn't say anything, and hands me one of those little guys. apparently he "bought it for me" for my birthday but really wanted to build it so he built it for me. sorry if that's a lame story, no one else has really made anything for me.

my item for my daughter :D

u/flosflos · 2 pointsr/sleeptrain

I have this https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00LGE21R4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-3FEzbX06AWMH found for $12 at winners. There's also this https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00MVU9A3U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_s5FEzbDGBFPC6 that I considered buying. My son has only muslin blankets though and he rubs his face on those instead so I didn't get it.

u/ccarriecc · 1 pointr/HelpMeFind

It might help to refer to it as a "snuggler" instead of a blanket.

This is "similar" but not close enough too:
