I just purchased a pair of Definitive Tech AW6500 speakers to replace the old Bose all-weather speakers I had. They run off the second zone on my receiver, and they sound absolutely AMAZING. Terrific bass response, really nice high end, and full sound.

I can crank them up pretty loud if I want to, but they also sound great at lower levels when people are hanging out and don't want to be inundated with sound (or if it's getting late and I don't want to piss off the neighbors).

I cannot recommend these highly enough. And they are $170 each.

Hi there,

I have a stand alone speaker (Soundcast outcast junior https://www.amazon.com/Soundcast-OutCast-Junior-OPEN-BOX/dp/B001UE8J3A )
where i hook up my phone with a 3,5mm jack.
The sound is good but I just want to know if there is a way to improve the quality. Maybe some kind of amplifier.

Thanks.

I'm a big fan of these: https://www.amazon.com/Kicker-KB6000-Indoor-Outdoor-Speakers/dp/B0051BS28A

Have two sets, one sits outside all summer. Sounds great.

This "amp" only has bluetooth and RCA inputs. How are you planning to supply the signal to the amplifier?

You need one of these plastic PA horns. They trade any hint of bass for a lot of efficiency. Even with 1 watt they are pretty loud, and without the bracket and crap you have plenty of weight left for a walkie-talkie board or BT speaker board. I'll bet a cheap FRS walkie would power it, and you could run that off your drone battery to save weight.

Oh and cheap chipamp (they have them even cheaper on ebay sometimes).

I think there are two options here, both requiring extra gear:

  1. split audio from the board using an external mixer. In other words, use a sound board with more than 2 outputs. Something like this, which has channel sends and main outputs.

  2. Chain your speakers - if you have an output onyour speakers, you can plug another speaker into there and chain them together. Keep in mind if you have a left/right situation, the panning might get funky depending on your setup. I have QSC K8’s, you’ll notice on the back they have an unbalanced xlr output. It’s great.

Another option - you could also buy a splitter cable to go straight from the board to the speakers. Think headphone splitter, but for rca/1/4inch/clever/whatever output you’re playing with.

You've got to have a receiver that has multiple zones if you want to choose different sources independently. I wanted to do the same thing with an outside/kitchen/dining room zone so I used my 2 zone onkyo tx-nr709 to control the second zone and wired an old amp I had that had A and B speaker selectors, then for outside I bought some wireless speakers.

What I'm getting at is you may just want to leave the two zones seperate and plug your phone into the speaker port of wireless speakers like those. Not ideal but probably the least expensive (I got the speakers for about $40 less than what they're at now).

The nice thing about my setup is anything (tv, xbox, internet radio) I want to listen to outside or in the kitchen ect, I can.

Anker Rave Mini

80 Watts it gets loud. "16 Hours" of battery, maybe at like half volume. I get like 10 hours at full. Fully water proof, can charge your phone off of it.

My secret weapon: ION Party Rocker Plus!

This thing is an absolute fucking beast. 70ish hours of music with no lights. The light show is beautiful though.

I would mount bookshelf speaker to the ceiling. As far as I know, you can't drill into concrete for wires or speakers.

You could paint the wires to match the color, or glue panels to cover the ceiling to make them out of sight (I guess?). I would use speakers like these on the ceiling.

I re-read what you wrote and it sounds like you are looking for the equivalent of a professional powered stage monitor that is Bluetooth and weatherproof. I spent some time researching and could not find a professional product. I did however find non name brand/home products like the link below. I have never heard of this brand but Is this the functionality you are looking for?

These are the speakers that I have. I don't know much about speakers and how much power they need and how much an iPod can supply. I was hoping for something like this with the red and black output but I have not been able to find anything online.

The speakers are mounted outside and the wires run through the wall to a slot inside. This is a diagram of the set-up. Let me know if you still need me to clear anything up. I know it's kind of hard to picture.

$150 gets you passive outdoor speakers.

$255 or more gets you powered/active outdoor speakers:

I have polk atrium 6s that work well and two pairs would be right in your budget. Not wireless though, and remember, wireless isn't really wireless, you still need outlets to plug them into, so unless you have power by the pool, they aren't going to work.

Sorry for the wonky link. I'm on mobile.
These are the ones we got. They aren't wireless, but I know there are some Bluetooth enabled speakers on Amazon somewhere.

u/feelrich · 1 pointr/audiophile

of course in hindsight I should have bought these that do have volume control
