In addition to what others have said, I use the Pro 100 about once a week or two, so here's a few

  1. Be prepared with a table that can support the printer. Haven't weighed it myself but I believe it's around 50 pounds.

  2. Ink isn't cheap. The carts aren't very big and run about 17 bucks a piece. There are 8 and can run out quickly doing multiple large prints. If you need to buy ink the specific is "CLI-42"

  3. If you do start printing at home, I recommend trying some sample packs from Red River, Moab, etc. I do like Canons Pro Luster but there's a lot of papers I like much more. Sample packs I've bought come at 8.5x11

  4. Along the same lines with the paper, be sure to install and set the correct profile before printing. There are different profiles for different paper and they do make a difference. The software should come with Canon profiles, but if you use other paper you'll have to download it from the companies site.

  5. If you print large prints like the max of 13x19, Micheals sells frames this size. You can also buy matts to take it up to 18x24 framed. This is what I use for around the house They aren't acid free, but for around here they're fine.

I thought i'd share what I just came up with.

I am moving to Germany at the end of the month for about two years, and I will be doing a LOT of traveling during this time. To preserve memories and share my experiences I decided to upgrade and change around my camera bag. I sold my d3300 and lenses and wanted a setup for something portable and not cumbersome that I can take in any situation without being annoying.

My activities I want to capture:

I think you should look into light tents

I just googled and grabbed the first one (which is pricy but large). They very easily let you make a seamless white background.

Edit: I didn't look thru your whole album (the important bit is 10 deep!). It seems you already have a usable setup- good work. I was expecting a mirror/reflective effect (which is starting to happen at the bottom) and not the pure luminous white you're getting.

I think both images are quite bright (not always a bad thing) you may consider separating out the lighting, one to over-expose the plexi and a softer, larger light for the product itself, a softbox or umbrella. That clip-on bulb to the right is quite harsh. You will have better luck with continuous lights (vs. flash) starting out because what you see is what you get during setup.

You'll eventually want to get everything locked down with a tripod, etc. so you can work more quickly and have less setup/takedown.

I've gone wild on my desk ever since I got it a couple months ago. It's absolutely laden with Star Wars funko pops, pez dispensers, Kingdom Hearts toys... but my favorite thing on it by far is a digital photo frame. It's so fantastic and I really can't recommend it highly enough. It always brightens up my workday to look over and see pictures of my dogs, past vacations, and loved ones.

u/LaTortugaConQueso · 1 pointr/scrapbooking

When I make something and want the stuff in the scrapbook to be unharmed and removable I either use something like this or this. I really like the glue dots, but be careful because there are permanent ones. As for saving money, my best advice is when you go to Joann or Michael's never go without a coupon. They ALWAYS have coupons, usually 50% off a single item. They also frequently have scrapbook paper sales. Try buying expensive stuff one at a time so you can get 50% off everything. Also Joann usually lets you stack coupons.

u/andrew_e1 · -3 pointsr/raspberry_pi

Those are all standard features on digital frames and way more... theyre basically smart devices, they can read all the photos automatically from your social media.

heres an example:

Aluratek (AWDMPF208F) 8" Hi-Res WIFI Digital Photo Frame w/ Touchscreen IPS LCD Display & 8GB Memory (1024 x 768 Resolution), Photo/Music/Video Support, Wall Mountable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MFDR5VT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_NR2UCbP5T36BJ

I can understand this being a learning proyect, but lets be real... in this particular area, commercial options are way better, easier, and cheaper.

I just started printing and have been using Itoya Art Portfolios and really like them so far. Might be worth checking out something like this ITOYA Art Profolio 4 x 6 Inches Presentation/Display Book and I know they have other products out there as well that are similar like this one which I think is the version Im using in 8x11

u/Dahija · 1 pointr/notebooks

I really like using photocorners. They look classy and hold up well (beside, many are made of acid free paper). http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Photo-Corners-Adhesive-Black/dp/B00004ZCLW/ref=pd_sim_ac_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1JHPAF53S4EK5RKGPPT4

u/aarona493 · 3 pointsr/comicbookcollecting

11x17 is a common sketchbook paper size I think. You can get boxes, binders, and portfolios in that specific size pretty cheap. If it's got a lot of sentimental value to you, you can get more expensive cases like this, https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000JCUYSM/?ie=UTF8&dpID=31Io82fwsVL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_SL500_SR100%2C100_

I have always thought this has always been a fantastic idea, and it might help preserve memories for awhile.

Friends and family faces, she wont be so concerned by not recognizing someone.

Maybe try getting him one of the digital picture frames to put on his wall so he always has access to the pictures on a screen (which might be a big disconnect between the printed pics and the computer/phone pics). You get to choose what pics go in, or maybe once a week pick them together, and I think some allow for videos.

I also think finding a kids digital camera for him to use would be a great idea. Although it might mean that you get a million pictures of a toddler with a camera for a face.

Another, less fun, option would be to completely limit his ability to go through the pictures and having a stern talk every time he tries to muscle in and see them before getting a picture. Maybe set up a rule that he can't look at the pictures until he takes a picture and deal with the initial tantrums that will happen the first handful of times you enforce the new rule.

I always bring a smart black display book that holds any relevant certificates and qualifications. Sometimes employers might want to take copies of qualifications. I also always bring my passport and driving licence on the off chance they will want to see or take copies of right to work evidence.

I think having a file makes you look smart and prepared - even if they don't want anything that's in it! The one I use is this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rexel-A4-Professional-Display-Book/dp/B0088CN1S0

Not sure about the captions but I got this one for my wife. It works quite well and is large enough to proudly display our photos.

I'm not sure about the Eye-Fi cards. I have the 4GB model and although it copies images to the PC (or cloud), it doesn't seem to have a mechanism to delete them following a successful transfer. So eventually the card fills up anyway.

I do agree that tethered shooting might be a good option. You could use the Canon EOS Utility to shoot a time-lapse directly to a connected PC.

If you don't have a PC handy, the cheapest solution might be to pick up an extra memory card and one of these:

There’s this one on Amazon. I looked into these for a gift for Christmas but they are a little steep. Pretty cool idea though.

u/FeatherLeaves · 2 pointsr/drawing

Is this similar to what you are looking for? Try searching for "9x12 plastic sleeve" instead of bag. Or you can use a portfolio as well. I hope this helps! You can also use a fixative to spray onto your work to prevent damage when handling.

Kodak makes a digital picture frame that gets an email address. Give the email address to your guests, have them email the pics to the address... profit?

http://www.amazon.com/Kodak-Digital-Address-Immediate-Sharing/dp/B0030MIU16

u/PCGCentipede · 3 pointsr/gadgets

The Kodak Pulse line of frames are Wi-Fi equipped and come with an email address you can just send the picture to. The frame will periodically check the Kodak servers for new pictures and download them on its own. This way you can update his frame from wherever you are.

The smaller one is about $100, but you can get them used cheaper if that's ok.
