Pleasers really are the best for dancing, because they’re structurally made for it. I’m not huge into wearing heels but even I feel far more stable in my 6in pleasers than I do in my 2-3in heels I wear for fancy work events. Pleasers do make lower heels, but 6in is where I really felt the most comfortable and stable.

These are really close to what I have and the clear straps are generally more sturdy than pleather. The ankle strap is a must. They aren’t made by pleaser, but are really similar in style.

If you’re not into the clear style, these are made by pleaser (or a company associated with pleaser?). The straps are thinner and just don’t conform to your foot as well as the clear straps. I have them and they’re good enough, but I’d still go for the clear straps.

These are a little lower, but don’t be surprised if the 6in heels are much more comfortable.

Boot styles are the most stable, but they are expensive and really only worth it if you’re committed to investing in a good pair and intend to use them frequently.

I don’t pole dance myself (my body just doesn’t play well with it) but my studio offers it along with chair dance classes and lyra classes designed for heels, so I use them from time to time and lots of my friends have many, many pairs. You could try character heel styles, they literally are made for dancing, but the good ones are just as expensive as pleaser, if not more. Very stable though.

Edit: the heels you’re showing do not look up to the job, without knowing anything else about them, the shank and the heel look way to thin and not stable and I’d actually be worried about them snapping. Since there’s no platform, the shoe might be flexible (in a bad way) and your toes wouldn’t be protected in moves where you’re dragging your toe across the floor, or doing some kind of a spin (we’ve got moves in chair where we actually flip off the chair and land on our toes). The outsole is completely flat too limiting your motion, and is going to make certain moves look and feel completely unnatural. Having a slight turn up at the toe makes a huge difference.

I seem to have fallen in love with these clog/sandal hybrids.. I've found pairs I love at Lotta from Sweden, Swedish Hasbeens, and MIA. I honestly was just looking around for a short flatform sandal, but none of the styles I saw were very flattering for someone with short, pale legs. Prob 3 inch heel max - I'd like to be able to wear these on a daily basis. Also, I prefer brown/natural over black or another color, I really just want a neutral sandal that will work with every sundress. I'd say my style is plain but girly?

Anyways! Those with clog experience - what brand do you reccomend? One of the ones I mentioned, or another? Preferably somewhere with easy returns.. Budgetwise, my max is $150 - but I am an avid bargain hunter and take pleasure in finding expensive stuff cheap in a hidden corner of the internet, so don't hold back! Thanks :)

One of my faves at Lotta from Sweden] ... here's another .... and one more!

A swedish hasbeen ... And another ... last one

From MIA

Just to add - this all started because I fell in love with these but can't find them anywhere in my size.. So if you know of any similar to that let me know! I'm picky about these ankle strap sandals because I feel like most of them "cut off" my leg at its worst point, like giving the illusion of me cankles. TIA!!!!

I have wide feet! Heels are something that I don't recommend buying online since the fit is so important (and you can't really tailor shoes). Brands that I do well with:

  • Jessica Simpson

  • Sheikh (love these so much)

  • Pleaser (for example these are really high but so freaking comfy, but I realize that this pair is over the top and that's not what you want.)

Honestly, go to an adult store and browse their shoe section. They'll carry really high heels and I've had great luck- those shoes tend to be super comfy. Then go to more expensive shoe stores and try on ones that are actual leather and have comfortable bases. A platform can be hidden and will give you extra height without too much lift. It's going to be about trying everything until you find something that works for you.

You've not once been argumentative. It's been a healthy exchange I think. I hope you think so too.

Having a bit of a heel gives us a mechanical advantage when coming up out of the hole. World records are trained and set with heels from .5 to over an inch in height. If heavier weight could be moved in flats, the big boys would do so. So, we insist on a heel. All folks doing hard manual labor do too. Top quality work boots from Red Wing, White, etc all have a heel to toe drop. We want the same.

Dropping weights on the foot is certainly one safety issue.

The more easily overlooked safety issues include the necessity for a non-compressible sole. A squishy sole makes it hard to control the bar and puts us at a grave disadvantage. I've seen many a bailed squat because someone was wearing a squishy shoe and got off their mid-foot. (Nike flyknits are the absolutely worst.) A non-compressible sole allows us to transfer force more effectively too.

The strap serve a couple of purposes. The straps pull the foot into the heel cup and keep it from moving around within the shoe during the squat. More stable, more safe.

The straps also contain and compress all the tiny bones that comprise the arch. We wear belts. We wear knee sleeves. We wear shoes with straps for the same reasons.

All of these things point to using the squat shoe.

I remember that the squat and deadlift made my arches sore when I got started lifting. The foot certainly gets trained and adapts just like the rest of the meat machine. Our main concern isn't getting the strongest foot possible though, it's in getting the King of Lifts, the Squat, as strong as possible. The strong squat pays many more dividends to the lifter than a foot that is "in LP". The stability the shoe provides is more important to the human than squatting with bare feet.

There are some zero drop lifting shoes. Don't buy them. Your anthropometry doesn't warrant them. The heels on the Adidas shoes you need are .68". We aren't talking about Laboutins or Pleasers. https://www.amazon.com/Pleaser-SKY302-C-Womens-Sky-302/dp/B00125NYFA/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1499614279&sr=8-7&keywords=pleaser+shoe

Don't make shoes the limiting factor in your training.

Give it a try.

This reminds me I need to find my black Danskos. I used to love wearing them when I was waitressing. They are heavy, but super comfortable and supportive. Where are you planning on wearing them? I've never thought to wear them out with jeans or anything... but in working environments they're great! I do have these which I pull off with jeans and are fun to wear.

My son is 11 months old. Some of his favorites are letter links (the linking rings for babies- I took a few out and out in the tub I figured since he loves them in general, why not put them in the tub too? They are plastic and float). He also in general LOVES books (turning the pages), so we have a few bath books, rubber ducky (put a dab of hot glue in the hole to avoid mold growth inside the duck). His FAVORITE bath toy lately has been stacking cups. He loves banging them together and either he or I filling them with water and watching it drain from the holes.

Letter links - these are everywhere. On the stroller, in car, in crib, bath, toy box etc. He loves them and has loved then since 5 months old.

In my experience, the broader the heal and more platform under the balls of your feet, the more comfortable they will be. Also, wedges are super comfortable. It's all about the pressure being applied to your soles.

Examples of more comfortable varieties:

  • A wedge is going to have more evenly distributed pressure, which will likely be more comfortable than something like this which has a skinny prong of a heel, and no cushioning to protect the balls of your feet which are already under added pressure because of the height of your heel alone.

  • Something like this heel will be marginally more comfortable because the heel prong is broader and there's a little more cushioning to the balls of the feet. These really trendy platform varieties are maybe the best option if you want to stay away from a thicker heel, though it doesn't have to be like 6" high. Just look for something that will cut the balls of your feet some slack.

It is so hard to choose! So I will list a few things I would love and let you decide if I end up winning. I would This pair of shoes, and It may not be pretty to some but This yard web will be a pretty Halloween decoration, This game has a nice ass on it and it would be fun, Or This back drop would be pretty for photos of my kids and family.

Thank you for the contest! You are amazing as always.

I live in Florida and it's super hot here already!

If I'm going to be doing a lot of walking I'll wear my Olukai Upena sandals. They're extremely comfortable and quite cute.

I recently bought Saltwater sandals in white and I love them! They're so cute, but not that comfy unfortunately. Really want to get these in the light pink as well.

I also bought the Crocs Leigh Wedge sandal. I know, Crocs, but I think they're really cute and look nice with sundresses. They're also really comfy.

Still on the search for a dressier heeled sandal!

u/velvetfoot · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Just like many others have said: Birkenstocks, Vionic, and Blundstone. The latter two have removable insoles so it's easy to replace with my orthotics.

The only wild cards are my Payless Dexflex flats. They don't have great support but they are the most comfortable pairs of flats I have ever owned, and hug my feet and arches enough that I can walk a lot in them.

Also... crocs. They have some sandals that are cuter than old lady shoes and don't look like crocs, but have a good amount of support. I have these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DY8THJK?th=1 and they've lasted me years now.

u/Averiella · 3 pointsr/poledancing

You might like Ellie shoes. When I started dancing I started out with basic heels by them. They’re actually super comfy for heels (the soles are padded). Do note that since they’re not actual boots it’ll be harder to climb, but boots are very pricey.

Remember: patent leather is best for climbing the pole. Boots provide the most stability. Pleasers are the best brand but they’re expensive for that exact reason.

Thank you gorgeous.

I was never not smiling. Watching you show off your gorgeous legs always keeps a smile on my face.

u/Lenify · 6 pointsr/running

Running barefoot often helps teach proper running technique. Don't assume you can run as far as you can with shoes though initially. Start slow with low mileage. Slowly build up as your feet adjust.

Also save up for some minimal shoes. I'm currently running in these and they feel great. Very similar to barefoot, yet with a nice thin layer of rubber to protect from glass, metal, sharp rocks, etc.

Another great option for cheap.

u/sean_incali · 10 pointsr/running

Not at all.

Maybe you haven't seen these?

The ones I'm wondering about are this one, and this one

I've run using teva/teva clones and the likes in the past and they're fantastic for me. Keeps your feet cool and easy to clean and maintain. Just wear them into the shower.

edit let's add one more.

u/secretfreakout · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I am not going to lie - the absolute best shoe for me in a 13-hour day 3 days a week for work are croc wedges. They last forever, they're comfortable as all get-out, and I swear I have them in 3 colors. I get them through Amazon. the black, the tan, and the blue/white stripe I own. I waited forever for the blue/white stripe to be on sale because they were WAY MORE than the black or tan! Seriously, check them out! I hear great things about their cute flats for work too, but the wedges don't tear up my feet and show off my nail polish.

Wedges!
