I have a Bosch laser level of the sort used for find plumb and level lines for tiling, flooring, etc. Do you feel that this device is sufficient for the amateur work OP is describing? I imagine I would only be able to work in low light conditions in order to be able to see the laser, in the absence of the optical viewfinder that I see on most pro surveying equipment.
