1060 deals are coming and going regularly at MSRP lately, 1070 are starting to show up too. On this rate I think we will be back to normal pricing in a little more than a mouth. If you don't need anything urgently. Hold! If you need something really badly, still hold in my opinion. You are likely to get something MSRP if you are not picky about brand in the next two weeks.

If you must get one today... well, "right away" is never a good time to buy anything.

RAM speeds matters sometimes but most of the time it doesn't. The reason people buy 3000/3200MHz RAM is because it only cost an extra $10 and you're covered in case you need it. If it were much more expensive, only a few would buy it.

Zotac and Asus make decent products and this "玄人志向" has good reviews on Amazon JP but I've never heard of it before.

Yeah some cards will run cooler, and generally more fans = more cool.

When I'm looking at GPU's I tend to look at brands with a good reputation, eVGA, MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte. I've had one GPU ever die on me, and it was a Zotac, so I won't use them. I'm sure it was just bad luck, but I'm allowed to discriminate. Then I check out the cooler/shroud. I tend to move towards fans like this as opposed to contained shroud that exhausts out the back. In my experience the first type tend to run cooler. Then I just look at which ones look cooler, and which ones have extra features. I went with the ASUS STRIX because it has RGB lighting, and two fan connectors. So you can attach case fans to it, and it can control them to help with it's temperature. Also my mobo is Asus and I like that they match.

I've been looking for a cheap 1080/1070 for my rig. Why is this so cheap?

What do you think the chances of the prices for the GTX 1070 dropping by more than $50 within the next 3 months?

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this stuff now, but I don't really know the best "season" to be shopping for computer parts.
