Why would you use solid wire in this application? That's not a good call for anything that flexes.
Why splice at all? Can you not use connectors?
Crimp terminals stink with solid wire. Your butt splices wouldn't be bad here at all.
If soldering isn't an option, you could use anything from barrier strips to wire nuts to Wagos. I like these.
