No judgement here. I played WoW from beta until 2009 pretty much non stop. Had well over a year playtime across my characters.

Then the two cards I suggested might be good, they are around $100 and are short.

Alternately you could go with a GTX 950 as it is small as well.

u/blackthunder365 · 2 pointsr/helpmebuildapc

You probably want something more along the lines of this. I'm not entirely sure about it being able to fit, so make sure you measure how much space you have and compare it to how big the card is. Depending on your power supply, that might also have to be upgraded as well, as the ones that come in prebuilts are often barebones and unable to handle an extra graphics card.

Also, you might find some more help in /r/buildapc. It's more active, and this sub is for live help with builds, not part picking.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IDG3PRI/ref=psdc_284822_t2_B00IB9P1GK This one will
or you can upgrade and get the GTX 950 will also work http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-02G-P4-2951-KR/dp/B013WQCC8Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1453449395&sr=1-1&keywords=GTX+950
Remember that reference GPU's are what will work in the x51. Also if you want to see your power supply output just look under your power brick! Happy hunting!

  1. Cooling is never a bad thing to include in a build, your CPU will not fry without one, but I would recommend purchasing one. The cooler you listed is compatible with AM3+ sockets.

  2. PSUs aren't too expensive. If you wish to upgrade in the future you could just get a new PSU with the upgrade. Your electric bill won't go up because of the amount of wattage your PSU supports (only what your computer draws for wattage).

  3. The difference between companies is how the GPU is manufactured (could be the amount of fans, clock speeds, dimensions of the card, etc.). The big difference is performance, the EVGA card has a faster core clock at 1152 Mhz and the Zotac has a core clock of 1089 Mhz. I'd recommend this model of the 950, though (more fans and a higher clock speed) https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-02G-P4-2951-KR/dp/B013WQCC8Q.

Note: if your budget is tight, don't be afraid to lose a little bit of performance by purchasing the Zotac brand GPU. I would recommend the higher quality card, but at the end of the day they are both GTX 950s.

  4. Here's a nice mid tower case. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146189&cm_re=nzxt-_-11-146-189-_-Product.

Also, another recommendation for a monitor https://www.amazon.com/AOC-I2267FW-22-Inch-Frameless-Brightness/dp/B00CLZ047Q/ref=sr_1_8?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1465717255&sr=1-8&keywords=monitors (I personally enjoy monitors with a thin bezel).

Note: Sorry if I left any needed info, feel free to ask if you need more in-depth answers.

Here is a mini GTX 960 that will perform slightly better than the 660: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SD9KZ96/ref=twister_B00W3IKGC4?_encoding=UTF8

And here is a mini GTX 950 that will perform about the same: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013WQCC8Q/ref=psdc_284822_t1_B00SD9KZ96

u/youser11 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Are you willing to buy a used card? You can get a GTX 950 for 140 used on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B013WQCC8Q/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used&m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ
EDIT: This will most likely also still have warranty on it.

u/iroberts · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I've got a GTX 950 (this model). Willing to ship for 90.

u/kim_jong_eal · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I don't have any suggestions on the capture card (I play pc exclusively) but this card is good and leaves you $100 to spend on a capture card

u/Tfg1 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Which part of my pc should I upgrade next?

CPU: Intel i5 4440

GPU: This GTX 950

Mobo: PC Mate B85 G41

PSU: EVGA 600 B1

RAM: 16GB

u/Sofusbofus · 1 pointr/buildapc

Hmm I'm sorry if I may have mislead you. It appears that Amazon is way more expensive for buying a GTX 950 compared to Newegg and NCIX. The cheapest I could find was this one at 139 dollars: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013WQCC8Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

If you're only able to buy from Amazon then you may have to get a GTX 750 ti instead. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IDG3PRI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

u/Woodsy921 · 1 pointr/simracing

I've picked out a 600w PSU and I've been looking at the GTX 950 and the 960, they're similar in price so do you know if there's much of a difference in performance?

u/Topwaffle · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Well the 950 is $160 on Amazon but the 960 is $215 on Amazon. It might be worth it in the long run though.

u/SecretagentK · 1 pointr/buildapc

I would get this instead, better performance and no rebates :)

u/morepandas · 1 pointr/buildapc

I think for you, the GTX 750ti is a good bet, or for a bit more the more modern GTX 950 will work too.

If you spend less than $100 on a gfx card your CPU's integrated graphics will likely be better.

If you aren't afraid of used graphics cards, a GTX 660ti is also fantastic and a better choice than the above.

u/LunarD3ATH · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I mostly ask because for my budget build I was recommended an i3 and a GTX 950 SC. No knowing when I'll actually be able to buy parts, but I try to keep it updated for the best possible deal at the time.

With Christmas coming up, my grandmother is apparently going to be giving me cash to put towards my computer. I'm done pretending that it's all going to come together soon, but if it does, I want to be on top of things.

u/AppCrisp · 1 pointr/pcmods

Great! I think I'm gonna get it then :o
Yeah; it was my bday a few days ago, so I'm treating myself. ;)
I mean, those still work for ya, yes? Serving the purpose of a good price for something that does the job? :)

For GPU I'm leaning toward a GTX 950 or GTX 1050. There's also a superclocked one, but would that make my computer catch on fire? lol
I'm also currently looking into if it works with my computer/motherboard or not.

Pick me one. I'm so fucking bad at this holy shit.

Also, my friend said I may need a better power supply. Link me one of them things too. My current power supply is 300 wats I think.

u/crazydave33 · 1 pointr/Doom

That's your problem. GTX 750 isn't powerful enough and doesn't meet the requirements. Here's a comparison

>DOOM System Requirements

>MINIMUM:
OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit versions)
Processor: Intel Core i5-2400/AMD FX-8320 or better
Memory: 8 GB RAM

>Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 670 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or better

>Storage: 55 GB available space
Additional Notes: Requires Steam activation and broadband internet connection for Multiplayer and SnapMap

You have a 1GB VRAM graphics card. DOOM requires 2GB VRAM at a minimum. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your card just can't run the game. You will have to look into getting an upgrade. Fortunately the new AMD RX 480 will be coming out soon and that will only cost $199 for the 4GB version which will be great. And it has low power requirements.

Alternatively if you want to get a card right now, I say the minimum should be a GTX 950. $140 on Amazon right now is a pretty good deal.

u/fleetfonzies · 1 pointr/buildapc

So I think I've settled on a GTX 950 for my PC. I still want to measure the inside of the machine and double check compatibility to be sure but I think it's going to work out.

I've got a couple more questions:

  • I'm thinking about buying this one as it's pretty inexpensive and looks compact. I noticed there are other versions that have two fans, like this. What's the difference between the two models? Would it be worth it to spend the extra cash on the second GPU instead?

  • I'm also considering the MSI GTX 950 because it comes the Afterburner software--not something I need, but I would definitely use it if I had it. Would anyone recommend this card over the EVGA, or are they comparable in performance?

  • Most importantly, I know the new 1070 should be coming out soon. If I wait until after that's released to buy a new GPU, could I expect the price of the GTX 950 to drop?

    Thanks for your help everyone!
u/ShadowYukisa · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Quite small actually, around 200$.

At the moment I'm looking at this GPU for it's small size (not too sure if 2 or 3 fans would fit inside).

One of the better budget cards would be MSI R7 360 OC 2GB Edition. Here is a FPS test. According to game debate it would only run medium/high, here is the estimated FPS. If your not on a tight budget then the sky is the limit for GPU..

u/AlcomIsst · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

The 950 is far better.

fuck - I typed out a good long reply to you and hit my browser back button and lost it. here we go typing it up again..

As far as the cases, I am looking to keep it relatively cheap. I found this but I also like this. I like them as they'll 'show off' the white finish on that motherboard I'm eyeing. Do you have any other suggestions in that price range?

I'll take your suggestion and leave out the audio card. This is a high(er) quality MOBO if I do go for it so it should be sufficient.

As far as the GPU - am I missing something with this product? This is a great price for a 950 (isn't it!?) and would totally go for this as opposed to the cheaper cards my coworker is offering. This would operate better than those, right?

I am really hoping for some good suggestions here. Money isn't an unlimited factor - and this is absolutely a want over a need, but I definitely want to do this, but do it right and not put hard worked money to waste.

u/drummersammy1 · 0 pointsr/buildapc

First off, yes, the motherboard will work with a GTX 960. However, I do NOT recommend that brand. I have never even heard of that brand, and since I know nothing about it, I can't tell you if it's going to fail on you within 6 months or not. The cheapest 900 series card is the 950. You can get an EVGA one here for $150 US http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-02G-P4-2951-KR/dp/B013WQCC8Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462647455&sr=8-1&keywords=geforce+gtx+950

u/some_random_kaluna · 0 pointsr/lowendgaming

I recommend the EVGA-brand 750 TI GTX card.

You've already upgraded your power supply a bit, but that particular card will run on a minimum 300-watt power supply, and it's a pretty good plug and play option. Also it's $110 or so on Amazon.

Or spend thirty bucks more and get the GTX 950, which has been doing everyone well for years.

But it's your call. Either way will do you very well. Congrats. :)
