GTX 760, honstly I'd be more likely to recommend a R9 270, I personally think there isn't enoguh of a performance gap to spend the extra cash but you may like nVidia's extra features (Game Stream, Shadow play and PhysX) but it will cost you more.

u/superalphajellybean · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Do you have any Maximum price you would like to pay? For a new power supply this would be the minimum And for the Graphics card i would suggest This im suggesting these becasue theyre pretty good and not overly expensive. if you would be comfortable spending more or less money just tell me and i can get a lower (or higher) end gpu

u/Diapernator · 3 pointsr/buildapc

What is the difference, if any, between these? I think one thing would be the particular fan/cooling system used, but do any of these stand out as "the best one"? Or is this a case of same shit, different pile?

If you can save $25 more dollars, the GTX 760 is a solid choice. It is roughly 2x as fast. You can find my recommendation here.

Great build! Although personally at that price point I would drop the SSD and upgrade the GPU, however its all a matter of personal preference

Edit: If you drop the SSD you could get this: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-02G-P4-2763-KR/dp/B00DHW4HS4

Ya everyone has their own opinion, in all honesty all the well known 3rd party manufacturers (Asus, gigabyte, EVGA, MSI) are very reliable cards with good cooling options. Me and my friend went with EVGA because they have a sweet warranty, are well priced and look really cool :D

I changed the parts around a bit. I searched around Newegg a bit more and was able to find a few deals that seemed better. I also should have stated the price has to be lower than $735 before rebates.

I believe this is the build he will go with unless there is a problem present in it. Thanks for the help.

here is a good one

u/Raedion · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

If you want to take a chance with the seller this is a good buy. The next step up is a Radeon 280X or GTX 770 for $100-150 more.

It looks like the deal ended :(

Found this 2GB 760 for $210 though, if it helps.

u/AlexanderPM · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Sorry! I did not know that. The GTX 760 is on par with a 7950, there are some for around $250 that are great, like this one.

The gpu (graphics card) is a compact one. The one you chose has a smaller pcb (the silicon board) than most other graphics cards. This card was probably meant for smaller motherboards in smaller cases (micro atx or mini itx, which are form factors, e.g your mobo is an atx). Because of this the fans of the asus 760 are smaller and will probably have to spin faster to cool the gpu, so I am assuming it will generate more noise.

Here is your asus gpu and here is an evga one, note the difference in sizes.

Here is your atx mobo, a micro atx, and a mini itx, note the difference in sizes.

If you have more questions feel free to ask.

I would say just get yourself a GTX 760 and drop that in your current system. The CPU should keep up with that graphics card and not bottleneck it. Also pick up a sound card. The Asus Xonar DX or D1 is a great card. They are the exact same, except the DX is PCI-E 1x and the D1 is PCI. I couldn't get any info on your motherboard, so take a look at the layout and see if you will have a PCI or PCI-E x1 slot available for the sound card. The PSU would need to be upgraded to accommodate the graphics card. You can try it out with your current PSU, but the Cooler Master PSU you have isn't very good, and I would just feel more comfortable getting a better/newer one. The CX 500 is only $30 after MIR. It is $10 off until tomorrow night.

Something like this would suit you just fine. It will perform better than consoles for sure. Granted you won't be maxing out any of the new titles, but even on medium-high settings, you'll hover around 60 fps at 1080p. If 30 fps doesn't bother you, then you can always crank up the settings a bit more.

u/chaon93 · 1 pointr/buildapc

for the first option, yes, adding 4 more GB of ram would likely net better performance in some games, mmo's tend to be ram and CPU heavy. I'd expect most mmo's to run fine as they are made to run on decent laptops usually and that desktop CPU is at least comparable to a midrange laptop cpu.

For the second option http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438016 and http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-02G-P4-2763-KR/dp/B00DHW4HS4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1394199399&sr=8-4&keywords=760 puts it at 305, the 760 may not be viable to squeeze in with the budget. a 750ti or a 660 would be a middle ground between the 750 and 760.

The Video Card needs memory to hold all the Textures for stuff ingame.
Also for the gtx 760 I would recommend the EVGA version because of the good cooler and EVGA's great customer support.

u/jomisebo · 1 pointr/buildapc

yes they have these huge heatsinks on them so the fans dont need to run as fast. i mean you can hear it when you run the card at 100% but its like barely audible. also if you spend $10 more you can get a gtx760 which is a better card http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DHW4HS4/?tag=pcpapi-20

Yea I'm not corssing my fingers.

I do like how EVGA has made a twin fan version of the GTX 760 which looks like it would be easier to clean out then the solid cover with a rotary fan on one end.

It's a beast, prepare to be playing ever game you own at 1080p/high/ultra with great framerates. I use a GTX 760 as well, but paired with a much worse CPU. (AMD FX 6350) and i still get great performance.

Enjoy, and subscribe to /r/PcMasterRace

PS. I'd try to get a different version of the 760, like EVGA. Not many people buy Zotac cards, and i'm sure theres a reason for that even if it's slightly less expensive. http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-02G-P4-2763-KR/dp/B00DHW4HS4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393702730&sr=8-2&keywords=EVGA+760

This is the exact card i have with the ACX cooler that EVGA uses, i get about 23-25 Degrees Celsius on idle, it's extremely quiet and it looks fucking beautiful. For a few bucks more, might as well get it.
