Ben Nye Final Seal Matte Makeup Sealer! It smells like mouthwash but is wayyy better than my UD sprays. I used it on my wedding day and, despite the heat, crying, etc., my makeup looked great at the end of the night!

For any sort of makeup whether Dark Elf or tattoo'd, I use a barrier spray before applying to help keep from sweating through the makeup. You can use the same barrier spray as a seal after application, but I use Ben Nye Final Seal for areally nice matte sealer. I played a makeup heavy character (raccoon) and those two things helped tremendously to keep the makeup in place. Both are fairly inexpensive and most costume shops carry both or similar products. Good luck!

When I want to cover up bruises or for costume make-up, I use this stuff. Depending on where you live you might be able to find a costume store that sells it, or a place where you can get it shipped quickly!

Here's a link to the same sealant on Amazon, though only in the 2oz spray bottle.

Make-up suggestions aside, grab yourself a bottle of this bad boy to seal everything. I used it Saturday night for a rainbow eyeshadow/liner theme and still woke up flawless on Sunday...even went swimming and stayed intact. This shit's legit.

Thanks! It took the most self-restraint to not scratch my nose with this on. XD I didn't really try to make it last/not smear because it was late at night, otherwise I would have used a setting spray. I hear Ben Nye has a really great setting spray. I know Ben Nye for special effects makeup, so I would expect that it'd work well for facepaint. Though I already have UD All Nighter so I really should have tried that. It probably would be the same. :)

YNMV on NYX. People love it, but I use it to wet my brush.

Ben Nye comes in a bunch of different sizes (that get SUPER cheap as the size goes up) but you’ll need your own spritzer bottle for the larger sizes. It also has a scent, so if you are sensitive to that beware. But my friend works at Disney Land and he uses Ben Nye to set his makeup, so if it works for a Disney Prince in the summer I’d say it’s good enough for me.

2 Oz - $16

8 Oz - $40

16 oz - $44

My favorite brand for facepainting is TAG Body Paints, you can get the individual pots of color and they have some beautiful blues.

Since it is water activated, it will start coming off if you begin to sweat. I use a sealant instead of water to activate the paint (it's my tried and true method). [Ben Nye Final Seal] (https://www.amazon.ca/Final-Seal-Matte-Makeup-Sealer/dp/B005MZ4A7C) is my go to. It's a little bit pricey but it's definitely worth it to make everything fade proof. Then I set everything with a translucent powder.

To remove, baby oil is where its at.

I cover them as much as I can, although some aren’t possible to cover long-term - I live in a sub-tropical climate where sleeves and summer don’t mix, and my skin is so pale that I can’t put concealer on them without it being obvious. I always cover them for interviews. I have thought about getting a tattoo sleeve or something to hide them, but I have a feeling big tattoos would have an even more negative effect than just letting the scars show. I have never had anyone say anything, but I have often wondered how it affects people’s perception of me.

If you aren’t as pale as me (I am vampire pale), check out a foundation called Dermacol. You have to make sure you buy it from a reliable website (I linked one below), as there’s a lot of fakes on the market, but the genuine dermacol is amazing and can cover all kinds of marks/scars/tattoos/etc. Applying it to your scars each morning could be a good way of covering them up without having to wear excessive clothing. It’s waterproof, but if you try it and find it’s transferring, there’s another product called Ben Nye final seal which you spray on to make it stick.

This is probably the greatest advice!
I think one of the bigger complaints I've seen at anime cons about Homestuck cosplayers has to do with grey paint getting everywhere. :( Which is an easy thing to avoid (and makes your hotel staff a lot happier when they have to room clean later on!)

Ben Nye makes a pretty good product called Final Seal that works quite well after a translucent powder has been applied. After the fact, you'll probably want to invest in a pack of makeup removing wipes- I've used these to great success, but I am pretty sure any disposable remover will work just fine.

Have fun. :)

For makeup, I'd reccomend Final Seal.

Its used for stage makeup, it isn't super shiney, and a good solid coat will keep you're awesome make-up job on for most of the day (If you're going all day, wash off and re-apply everything after lunch.)

Really nice costume, good job on the dress!

This stuff is absolute magic to keep makeup in place. It definitely lasts through a very sweaty workout. Or a night of clubbing. You might find it cheaper elsewhere. Comes off easily with coconut oil too. =D

u/beegobuzz · 2 pointsr/cosplay

Most of the Luffy cosplayers I know use Sharpie. Unfortunately, that rubs off still.

You could try using Ben Nye if you won't have people touching you throughout the day or if you'll be changing costumes the next/later that day.. or if you don't mind doing something a little longer lasting (like..several days.. I've used this for my Hancock and Erza tattoos:)

http://www.tcpglobal.com/airbrushdepot/abtatpaint.aspx This stuff is awesome. You don't need too much of it at a time, it stays on for hours on end, and dries like liquid latex. Tends to take several days to scrub off. It's also great fun for messing around with for shiz and giggles. Well worth the price.
As with everything mentioned here, please make sure you use a sealant...be it actual makeup sealer ( http://www.amazon.com/Final-Seal-Matte-Makeup-Sealer/dp/B005MZ4A7C ) or simple hairspray (Aquanet is great). That way, it stays in place, won't get on you, anyone else, or on anyone else's property, which could hold you liable for cleaning damages! I know Luffy's scar is huge, so you should be able to get away with not too much if you're using it over the course of a con. Hope this helps!

They don't sell at Sephora - idk about Ulta but probably not.

The brand is geared toward theatrical makeup - really good high quality. A lot of brides use Final Seal to keep their makeup on all day etc.

Highly recommend Ben Nye Final Seal. It's actually made for setting stage makeup where the actors are heavily makeup'd and under very bright lights. I swear by the stuff!

Fair warning: it's heckin minty. Like, make you wince peppermint in your eyes fresh to death. So do your mascara AFTER you set everything else.

Seconding Ben Nye Final Seal! I cosplay a lot and trust nothing else to keep my makeup flawless all day. I also have the issue with my glasses rubbing off my makeup on my nose and have used it when I am going to be in meetings all day w/o a chance to go check/repowder my nose.

u/911pleasehold · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I live in Houston... I think the best thing for the summer here is Ben Nye's final seal setting spray link. It has made a world of difference for me. That shit is practically waterproof.

I would try the same makeup you use now plus this spray over it
