If you don't have a bias against chinese clones, let me know. There is an ocean of quality chinese knives often for a third the price of their American counterparts. D2 steel is becoming the norm, and the popular 9CR18MOV makes for good knives, despite the bias against any and all CR18MOV steels.
If you don't want to use sites like DHgate or alibaba, you can still find Sanrenmus (awesome, awesome brand) or Ganzos (hit or miss, as I understand, but still with many strong budget choices) on amazon.
If you'd prefer an American knife, there are still plenty of great knives in your price range.
