  Justified (Wikipedia link) is an adaptation of the Elmore Leonard short story "Fire in the Hole". It is the story of U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, who's reassigned from Miami to the jurisdiction including his rural, coal-mining hometown in Kentucky. The show follows the mismatch between Raylan's somewhat anachronistic, old-West approach to law enforcement and what's expected in modern times. It also explores rural Kentucky and how it's constantly being exploited, both by outside forces and those from within. It's also a very good hybrid between procedural and serialized drama, especially in the first season (though it does become increasingly serialized over time).
  
  Justified has won a Peabody Award and two Emmys. Rotten Tomatoes gives it 97% fresh for the overall series/92% positive audience score, and it has, um..., justifiably earned accolades for its writing, acting, cast, and everything else. The show is especially good at using conversation to ratchet up the tension, something that inevitably explodes into violence.
  
  Oh, and for what it's worth, this has been nominated twice before by /u/MikhailGorbachef: once in the inaugural call for nominations, and again two weeks later.
